Quality Institute Health Matters Poll – April 2019 4

• By the Quality Institute in partnership with the Rutgers Eagleton Poll:

o 61 percent of NJ adults have thought about their wishes f or medical

treatment near the end of lif e.

o 53 percent have not talked to someone about their end-of - lif e wishes.

o 70 percent of New J ersey adults have not put their end-of - lif e wishes

in writing.

• Disparities across race - White residents are much more likely than non-

white residents to:

o Have had a conversation about their end of lif e with someone (53 to

39 percent).

o Have a written document (37 to 20 percent).
