We must invest in Improvements

• Are we too busy making product, fighting fires….

• We must do BOTH

• Every employee has a CI mindset, always thinking about ways to improve their job, it becomes natural.

25

We must invest in Improvements

• Are we too busy making product, fighting fires….

• We must do BOTH

• Keep the car on the road

• Small improvements along the way – less effort and cost in the long run

• Expensive to get out of the ditch

26

Must have an intentional plan for CI

• If you are not looking for it, you won’t find it….

• A plan everyone understands, all seeing waste as waste, acting urgently to improve it.

• Plan to instill a continuous improvement mindset in EVERYONE in your company starting with Leadership

• Empower your employees to make improvements, enable them to think for themselves,

• Have fun doing it…

29

Seek Wise Counsel

• King Solomon• Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance

• We would be foolish to think we know everything and try to do everything on our own.• “ The Goal” or “Andy and Me”

• Pull in a SME to help generate the energy needed to drive your CI culture….• You need someone that understand the big picture of continuous improvement.

30

What does a CI process look like…

• There is no wrong way…• the one that you come up with as a team and agree to follow is the right one for you

• Electronic, Paper, hybrid

• Large Kaizens, Point kaizens, small little improvements…• Need them all…

31

Wrapping up…

• Continuous improvement Cultures• Empower your employees

• Make you more efficient in the long run• What if you could cut your cost and cycle time by 50%, what

would that do for you?

• Will give you a competitive advantage…

• We must invest in improvement

• We must intentionally look for improvement opportunity – have a plan

• We must seek wise counsel
