Founded in 1999, Etosha Heights is one of the largest private reserves in Namibia, sharing an approximately 70km border with Etosha National Park and offers a robust 60 000 hectares of unspoiled wildlife and tranquility. The brand new Safarihoek Lodge is perched on a hillside and amongst Mopani trees overlooking a large waterhole and the vast expanse of Etosha.
Our dedicated team offers you true Namibian hospitality and a unique safari experience, by the end of which each and every guest has become part of the Etosha Heights family.

Safarihoek is a spacious and elegant lodge with the main building on an elevated deck to catch the breeze and positioned under vaulted thatch, allowing for infinite 180º views over the plains below.

All rooms are privately situated and furnished with minibar, coffee station and mosquito nets. Air-conditioning, electronic safe, hair dryer, two 3/4 beds that are convertible to king beds, en-suite bathroom and a small desk work area.
Safarihoek’s accommodation comprises spacious, modern rooms, under high thatch roofs with a private veranda on raised platforms with far sweeping views.
Family unit with a main room and a small living area separating the main room from the children’s room. The children’s en-suite also has a bathtub.

Safarihoek Lodge is entirely powered by a solar system, with 220 volt charging facilities and backup generators. International adaptors are available.Etosha Heights has its own water bottling plant, using water from a deep dolomite source and the drinking water is pure and A-graded in Namwater testing.

The surrounding area is dominated by vast savannah, interspersed by Mopani woodland, riverine forest and scattered pans; characteristic Etosha landscape. Numerous waterholes attract large numbers of game and birds.

The Etosha area is rated one of the best places in Africa to view rhino, and Etosha Heights offers unique encounters.
Apart from the numerous species of birds found in the area, antelope, giraffe and other plains game abound. In winter, aardvark sightings are not infrequent. From gemsbok to kudu, herds of eland, the elusive Hartmann’s zebra, and so much more, Etosha Heights is an area rich in biodiversity.
With lions, both black and white rhino, and several nomadic elephants, the Safarihoek experience is quintessential Namibia.

Safarihoek’s photographic hide is unique in Namibia. Built on two levels, with wheelchair access to the upper level and toilet, and looking on to a large natural waterhole.
Abundant birdlife throughout the day, as well as sandgrouse at dusk.
The lower, ground level is set up for serious photographers with a charging station with international adaptors, areas for gear storage and an eye level view of the action.
The waterhole is well lit at night allowing for photograpic opportunities well after dark.

Facing East, the hide affords opportunities to capture images at eye level or from the spacious upper level.

Etosha Heights is particularly known for its large herds of eland, hartebeest and springbok. Witnessing these herds congregate on the plains together is an unforgettable sight.
