Confessions of a Serial Inter-disciplinarian or "How I fell in love with Design, then out of love and finally back in love again"

Rainbow Station (2014 - 2015) :: Studio Roosegaard

The space between the object and the user.

This space has become larger, more fluid, distributed and complex. It is filled with data streams from all types of sources.

Urban Interaction Design is a response to this escalation

Six Cities Design Festival, Scotland (2007)

Fragments of Place, The Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2008)

Preckam Most :: Crossing the Bridge, Interaction Design Workshop, Magdalena Festival, Slovenia (2009).

The act of taking photographs altered perspectives on everyday routines.

Singletown, Droog Design/KesselsKrammer (2009)

Critical Design acts as a catalyst or provocation for thought (Anthony Dunne, 1999).

How do we extend the requirements horizon beyond existing systems in order to identify emerging themes within a field?

Haus-Rucker-Co - Environment Transformer (1968)

Elmgreen & Dragset - Prada Marfa (2005)

Aural Fixations, UrbanIxD Project (2013)

Aurora, the Aura City, UrbanIxD Project (2013)

What follows are a series of Design Fictions, each one exploring some aspect of what it might be like to live in the hybrid city of the future ....

Each fiction is a story that makes us reflect on how we lead our lives today.

Nokuna - social utopia or creative control centre?

It’s 2063 in the Displaced City. Nokuna is a protected region that operates on a gift economy model. The universal Bitcoin currency has had its signal blocked and is useless within Nokuna’s boundaries.

Eutropia

During the Great World Recession of the 21st century, the authorities of the City of Eutropia signed an exclusive agreement with a consortium of mega corporations trading the vast amounts of information the city generates.

The new economy of the city is based on data and its export. Through the exportation of data the city has secured independence and well-being for all its inhabitants. This is a city with no unemployment, a city in which no one needs to work.

In Eutopia “privacy” is just an ideological delusion. Authors: Ivica Mitrović and Oleg Šuran (Arts Academy, University of Split); Director and Editor: Glorija Lizde; Camera: Andrea Kaštelan; Sound: Marko Jukić; Cast: Oleg Šuran, Matko Elezović, Nikola Marangunić, Maja Petrić, Mario Raguž, Ivana Kevo, Ivica Mitrović, Nikša Vukša; VFX: Jakov Šuran; Costume Designers: Margita Videtić and Katarina Bilan; Props: Oleg Šuran and Ivica Mitrović; Based on Čekingrad (Jernej Kejžar, Nera Nejašmić, Oleg Šuran; Nelly Ben Hayoun; Ivica Mitrović; Interakcije, UMAS, 2011).
