Responsible Respectful Resilient

Question: If you could choose one thing that costs money and make it free for everyone forever, what thing would you choose? Why? Justify your thinking.

Year 8 student response: An Apple! Because it needs a tree to be planted, it provides food for people, it can be juiced and provides seeds to be replanted. Therefore an apple can provide basic survival and it’s a renewable resource.

Some rules for Academy

If I am not in an Academy, can I just choose it on my subject selection for next year?

Answer - No. You must go see the Academy Director to find out how to be considered for an Academy in 2020. You must be approved through the Academy application process to be allowed to select it.

FAQ

• What am I good at?• What do I enjoy doing?• What were my best subjects in Year 7 & 8?

Choose very carefully…

At Helensvale State High School, we design our timetable AFTER students have chosen their subjects. Subject changes are therefore not always possible and are only permitted at certain times.

How do I choose?

X My friend is taking that subject.

X I do/don’t really like the teacher.

X Someone told me that the subject is fun (or easy).

X Someone told me that the subject is boring.

DO NOT choose your subjects for the following reasons:
