COMMON EYE DISEASES

Introduction:

• Now eye diseases are increasing daily. Due to increased pollution and changing food habits made early aging of eyes. Small children and aged people are more susceptible for serious eye problems.

Major eye problems are:

Cataract : condition at which clouding of the eyes which leads to a decrease in vision. One of the most common cause of blindness and is conventionally treated with surgery.

Glaucoma : condition that causes damage to eye's optic nerve and gets worse over time.

Conjuctivitis : It is an inflammation or infection of the transparent membrane (conjunctiva) that lines your eyelid and covers the white part of your eyeball.

Age-related macular degeneration :eye condition that leads to the deterioration of the center of the retina, called the macula, leading to loss of central vision.

HOW TO AVOID THESE CONDITIONS?• Through proper diet:

Practise the habit of eating fresh fruits that contains Vitamin C and A. Include leafy vegetables and fish in your food.Since they all are highly nutrient rich that can enhance and nourish your eye cells.

Frequent eye check-up:

Periodic eye check-up will help you to detect any eye diseases at its early stage itself.

• Use eye wears to protect your eyes:

When you are going out in sun, always wear any branded sunglasses. The ultraviolet rays from sun can result damage to your eyes. Any colored lenses that can screen the harmful rays is suitable for wearing.

*Give more care to your contact lenses:

contact lenses are a common fashionable eye wear nowadays. If theses lenses are not properly cleaned, the chance of germ attack is higher. This is common for both prescription lenses and colored lenses.

IMPORTANCE OF CHILDREN EYE CARE:

• It is parent’s responsibility to protect baby’s eyes, since infants and toddlers are too young to take care of their eyes.

Children’s eyes are more delicate and susceptible for germs and suns rays, since they are in the growing stage.
