2. Association Inauguration
The most awaited formal Inauguration of the Association was held on 12th October
2019 at our College Auditorium. The Association in-charges Prof. Tisssy Eruthickal
and Sri. Ajay Abraham along with the Student in-charges of Association jointly
inaugurated the association activities for the year 2019-2020 by lighting the lamp. Like
every year the Inauguration ceremony was followed by the talent show of the students
of our Department. It was conducted in the form of competition, and for the same the
students were grouped into 3 groups, namely ‘Group A’, ‘Group B’ and ‘Group C’.
Group A won the first Prize and bagged the ever-rolling trophy. Group C and Group B
finished in second and third spots respectively.

3. Teachers Day Celebration
As a part of honoring the teachers for their contribution to the society and thanking their
endless efforts, the association organized a special program on September 5th as part of
Teachers’ day. Students themselves presented handmade gift packs including greeting
cards, pen, chocolates etc. to the teacher’s and expressed gratitude to them for their
endeavor.

4. Onam Celebration
Onam is the biggest festival celebrated with joy and enthusiasm by people of all
communities in Kerala. It commemorates the subsequent homecoming of the legendary
Emperor Mahabali. This year’s Onam was celebrated by the association on 6th
September, 2019 at 1.30 p.m. in room number 301. The programs started with a
traditional Thiruvathira dance performed by the students of Commerce Department.
Competitions were also organized by the association as part of onam celebrations for
the students as well as teachers. The students as well as teachers actively participated
in all events organized by the Association. Association also served payasam to all the
students and teachers. The program ended with a beautiful group song performed by
the students.

5. Commerce Cricket League (CCL)
An intra-department Cricket League named COMMERCE CRICKET LEAGUE
(CCL) was conducted on 7th and 8th of September, 2019. Students as well as teachers
actively participated in the cricket tournament. The league consists of knockout stages,
that is the winning team in each match moves to the finals. This year for the first time
Women’s Cricket League was conducted to ensure the active participation of women
in games like cricket. The preliminary knockout rounds for the men’s CCL was
conducted on the first day and finals was on the second day. Sri. Manoj Narayanan K.S.
and Sri. Githu K. Giji were the umpires for the men’s final match. In the first edition of
women’s CCL, the team of D2 B.Com became the Champions and the team of D3
B.Com became the Runners-up. In the men’s edition, the team of D2 B.Com became
the Champions and the team of D1 B.Com became the Runners-up.
Cool drinks, Medical supports etc. were provided to the players by the association.

6. Kaleidoscope: Dentro
Before the inter-collegiate gala fest Kaleidoscope 2k20, the association conducted
Kaleidoscope: Dentro, the inter- department competitions. Three competitions were
conducted as part of Dentro, and it includes quiz competition, debate competition and
Mock IPL Auction.
I. Inter- Department Quiz Competition
An inter-department quiz competition on the topic “Indian Democracy &
Parliament” was conducted on 29th November 2019 at 10.00 am in Mrs Mammen
Mappilai Hall. Sri. Clement Mathew Kuriakose, the faculty of our department
served as the Quiz Master for the competition. A team of two members from each
department participated in the competition. The team of Joel Joseph & Vishnu
Shibu of Dept. of English won the 1st Prize, the team of Jitty Mol Philip &
Nandana Manoj of Dept. of Politics won the 2nd prize and the team of Joji John &
Mohammed Yaseen of Dept. of Economics won the 3rd prize. Cash prizes were
awarded to the winners which was sponsored by Institute of Parliamentary Affairs.

II. Inter- Department Debate Competition
An inter-department Debate competition was conducted on 18th December, 2019
in room number 304 at 11.00 am. Eight teams from eight departments consisting
of two members each, participated the competition. Sri. Clement Mathew
Kuriakose, faculty of Dept. of Commerce and Ms. Dona Elizabeth Sam of Dept.of
English served as the judges for the debate competition. The team of Elena Elsa
George & Ashna Mariam George of Dept. of English won the 1st prize, the team
of Jitty Mol Philip & Soumya P.B of Dept. of Politics won the 2nd prize and the
team of Riya Rachel Abraham & Anjitha Prasad of Dept. of Chemistry & the team
of Rilin Robin & Nija Mariam Gribu of Dept. of Botany shared the 3rd prize. Cash
prizes were awarded to the winners which was sponsored by Institute of
Parliamentary Affairs. Mr. Akhil T.S. Association Secretary, delivered vote of
thanks to all the participants as well as to the judges of the competition.

III. Inter- Department Mock IPL Auction
An inter-department Mock IPL Auction was conducted on 6th January, 2020 in
Room No. 314 at 1:30 pm. The auction was conducted with two rounds,
Preliminary round and the Auction. Ten teams participated in the prelims, each
team consists of four members only. The first six teams with highest marks
moved to auction round. Mr. Basil M Raju of M2 Commerce was the auctioneer.
The team of Vishnu Shibu, Shakeel Hasan, Nivin K.S. & Anandhu Krishnan of
Dept. of English won the 1st Prize and the team of Austin J.K. ,Akshay S. , Lan
P.K. & Abhijith Prasad of Dept. of Mathematics won the 2nd Prize. The winners
were awarded with cash prize and certificates. Mr. Akhil T.S., Association
Secretary, delivered vote of thanks to all the participants and event coordinators.

7. Intra- Department Competition
Besides inter-department competition Association also conducted intra-department
competitions for the students of Commerce department. The following competitions are
conducted;
i. Intra-Department quiz Competition
An intra- department quiz competition was conducted on 1st October, 2019 at
1:30 pm in Room Number 301. Basil M Raju of M2 Commerce won the first
prize and Sujin Jacob of M2 Commerce won the 2nd prize.

8. Kaleidoscope 2K20
The 16th edition of the most prestigious program of our Department,
“KALEIDOSCOPE, DUEL OF THE ERUDITE”, the inter-collegiate Commerce
fest was conducted on 11th January, 2020. We hosted 123 students from around 16
colleges across Kerala. This year’s fest was conducted in two segments, that is the
inter-collegiate fest and cultural eve ‘SARGAM”. The fest was inaugurated by
showing the making video of the 16th version of Kaleidoscope by the Association
Teacher in charges Smt. Tissy Eruthickal, Sri. Ajay Abraham and Ms. Vidyasree V
and displaying the Overall Champions Trophy to the student representatives followed
by dispersion of participants to their respective event locations. The events of the fest
were ‘PRAABHAVAM-(Marketing Game), VIDAAYAM (Management game),
GEETAKAM (Vocal solo), DAAYANAM (Mock IPL Auction) and Praajnikam
(Paper Presentation). All the events excluding PRAAJNIKAM were conducted on
11/01/2020. The Paper Presentation (Praajnikam) was held on 25th February, 2020. It
was conducted as a One Day National Conference titled- “PARADIGM SHIFT IN
BUSINESS, COMMERCE & INDUSTRY”.
Being a platform set for the battle of erudite, St. Thomas College, Palai won the
overall championship of the fest. The overall runner up position was bagged by
Devamatha College, Kuravilangadu. Thus ‘Kaleidoscope’ which reflected art and
challenged the intellect of participants was curtained down for the year giving
inspiration to conduct the fest in more colourful way for the coming years.
The 16th version of Kaleidoscope was title sponsored by Achayans Gold
cosponsored by Milma, Josco Jewellers’, Canada Bank, SBI, SIB, Logic, AFP Finance
School, and Narmada with event partner Max Events.
The cultural eve ‘Sargam’ began on 6.30 pm. Students, Teachers and former
Aluminis performed the occasion. It was a grand cultural evening filled with a blend of
music, color and different dance forms by the members of Commerce family consisting
of students, teachers and alumni. The curtains of the grand fest fell over by 7:30 pm.

9. Tutelage Lecture Series
The first Session of Tutelage Lecture Series of this academic year was conducted
on 2nd August, 2019 at Dr. A.P Mani Media Centre. Rev.Fr. Dr. M.P. George was
the chief resource person. He threw light upon the topic “Meaning of Life through
Music”. The students of D1 B.Com and D2 B.Com attended the lecture series.

The Second Session of Tutelage Lecture Series of this academic year was
conducted on 1st October, 2019 at Mrs. Mammen Mappilai hall. Dr. Nisha P
Aravind was the chief resource person. she threw light upon the topic
“Environmental Issues and Future”. The students of D3 B.Com and D3 BBA
attended the lecture series. It was a much needed session which could help our
students to know and learn more about the same.
10. Comclave Comclave is yet another initiative of Commerce Association introduced with the
intension to bring in creative conference on various commercial topics. The discussion
was decided to be conducted every Tuesday and students from each class
simultaneously will present various concepts. The details of the Comclaves organized

12. Other Activities of Association during 2019-2020
Visit to Madonna Jyothis School of Mentally Challenged
On 04th October 2019, as a part of the non-academic extension programme the
student representatives and faculties of Commerce and Management
department Baselius college, Kottayam, visited the Madonna Jyothis School
of mentally challenged in Puthupally at 1:30 P M. A fund collected from the
students and teachers of the department was presented to the Head of the
institution. The students also spent some quality time with the inmates of the
centre. The institute has a total of 60 members & staffs with 32 Boarding at S.
H. Convent Puthupally.
