CNC Router The introduction of the CNC Router has had a dramatic impact on teaching and learning at Dunbar Grammar school. Not only has the machine given the pupils an opportunity to manufacture complex prototype models to a professional quality but pupils have utilised the machine for enterprise opportunities within the local community. This year alone we have manufactured key fobs for our local swimming club and trumpets for the local rainbow troop. Pupils are now taking more of a responsibility for their school’s environment by manufacturing signs for use both in and out of the school. In 2008 Dunbar Grammar school won the prestigious title of best newcomer to the competition when we reached the East of Scotland heats for the F1 in school’s competition. This could not have happened without access to this new technology. Pupils design a scale model of a formula 1 car and manufacture it using the CNC router, they then race against other schools.
