Have some fun and test yourself by answering the following questions to find out if you truly

know how to write an effective resume. 

Your contact information should be found:

a)at the end of your resume

b)you don’t need to put the information on the resume

c)at the beginning of your resume

d)only on your cover page

Your contact information should include:

a)name and telephone number(s)

b)name, address and telephone number(s)

c)name, address, telephone number(s) and email address

d)name, email address and telephone number(s)

Your resume should include the following:

a)your contact information and brief summary of yourself

b)your skills and qualifications

c)things you have accomplished and things you need to improve on

d)contact information, qualifications, job history, education and professional achievements

Your Qualifications/Objective Statement should outline:

a)what you don’t want in your next role

b)what you like to do and the experience and skills you’ve attained

c)why they should hire you and no one else

d)why you’re on the job market seeking employment

Your job history should include:

a)oldest position to the most recent positionb)list the jobs in ascending orderc)title and years in that role company, position and yearsd)most recent positions in reverse chronological order

Your education:

a)does not need to be emphasized, if they want to hire you they will regardless of your academic qualifications

b)may be limited, so make it upc)should be listed in reverse chronological orderd)should only be listed if the job your applying to is requesting it

Your references:

a)should include friends and family

b)should include names with outdated contact information

c)should include people that can be contacted

d)should not be told in advance that they may receive a call

The interview is your second chance at making a first impression, after the resume.

Some more question to consider...

Before the interview should you:

a)smoke a cigarette

b)turn off your cell phone/mobile device

c)flirt with the receptionist

d)apply lots cologne/perfume

You should always bring this to the interview:

a)A fresh copy of your resume

b)A list of current business references

c)A pen and paper to take notes with

d)All of the above

What should you wear to a job interview?

a)Shorts and a t-shirt (it is summer after all!)

b)A formal dress or suit

c)Whatever you woke up wearing that morning

d)A business suit and tie for men and a suit and blouse/sweater for women.

Employers want to hire:

a)The candidate that shows how they are most qualified for the position

b)The candidate that is the most arrogant in the interview

c)The candidate that has the education behind their name

d)The candidate that can drops the most big names in the industry

When answering interview questions you should always:

a)Be extremely detailed and in depth with your answers

b)Be concise and to the point, giving just enough detail to make your point

c)Tell the interview your whole life story, including what hospital you were born at

d)Tell the interviewer that it is none of their business

If you don’t understand an interview question:

a)Just nod and smile and hope the interviewer doesn’t notice

b)Try and answer what you think they asked and hope for the best

c)Ask for clarification

d)Say “I have no idea what you are asking me!”

Following the interview you should:

a)Send a thank you note to the interviewer (either hand written or through email)

b)Call the interviewer every day to see if they made a decision

c)Call the interviewer’s boss to complain that you haven’t received a response yet

d)Forget about the interview and move on without an answer

•Of the candidates who worked for us in 2009, 8% went on to accept full time employment with the company they were on contract with.•Of the candidates who worked for us in 2008, 12% went on to accept full time employment with the company they were on contract with.

•Between 2008 and 2009, 10% of our candidates accepted full-time employment at the end of their contract.

•The number of PTC consultants who were incorporated more than doubled from 2008 to 2009
