DESCRIPTION

The building, which was originally designed to be a two-level parking structure, was deemed seismically unstable back in 2009. A study revealed that the building could not survive an earthquake of even small size, and that is when the city made the decision to overhaul the building.

Coos Bay City Hall Police Station Seismic Renovation project was funded by Oregon Emergency Management and City of Coos Bay. The total budget for the project was; 2.5 million the upgrades include; Parking Deck Shear Walls, Structure Pinning, Interior Structure Walls secured to Truss Supports, Wall Anchor System, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing and Landscaping. The project was completed on schedule and within budget. Included in the renovation were Energy Trust of Oregon incentives.
