STATE OF NEW YORK OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL
ANDREW M. CUOMO THE CAPITOL Attorney General ALBANY, NEW YORK 12224 (518) 474-7330
Dear Friend:
Throughout New York there are beautiful rivers, streams, wetlands, mountains, forests, open space and wildlife. We feel deeply about these areas and want to protect them. Protectingthe environment is also linked to protecting our health and the health of our children, neighborsand friends.
Unfortunately, there are numerous threats to our environment and to people’s health.Whether it’s air pollution from factories, trucks, power plants or other facilities; water pollutionfrom industrial or sewage plants or street runoff; or toxic contamination of drinking watersupplies - - the public is increasingly concerned about the connections between pollution andtheir family’s health.
Because New Yorkers are keenly interested in a range of environmental issues, my officehas prepared this listing of national, statewide and local government and non-governmentaloffices and organizations that can provide relevant information and resources. I hope you willfind this guide helpful when questions arise regarding the environment and your family’s healthand will assist you in being an informed citizen in your local community.
If you have questions, feel free to contact the Environmental Protection Bureau in theAttorney General’s Office at (800) 771-7755 or (518) 474-7330. Or you can fax your request to(518) 402-2472. Environmental reports and testimony can also be found on the AttorneyGeneral’s website at: www.ag.ny.gov
