Pastor’s Page
Thank You Rosary SocietyAt this time, I thank all Rosarians, especially their President, Kathy Sokol, for a very successful Christmas Fair.
It was successful because there was a positive spirit, everyone had a good time, and many people attended. There was festive Christmas music, plenty of good food and dessert, and they made money for the parish. Most of the Rosarians were involved. They worked very hard all weekend and they did a phenomenal job!
May God continue to bless all of you!
All ParishionersReprinted from last week’s bulletin.
If you read my bulletin page on a regular basis, you know that I thank the many parishioners and ministries for their support of the parish. There are many people responsible for the daily functionality of Holy Spirit Parish. There are many who are a part of a ministry or small group and there are many who volunteer on an individual basis; Lector, Minister of the Eucharist, Usher, just to name a few. HOWEVER, the majority of parishioners are incredibly wonderful and generous parishioners, who come to Mass every week and contribute to the financial needs of the parish, but are not involved in any group or ministry. It is this group who I acknowledge now and say – Thank you! Although, of course, I appreciate all active parishioners for helping this parish to be the great parish it is, I also understand that, for various reasons, not everyone is able to give of their time at this point in their lives. To this group, I want you to know that I appreciate you, I am grateful to you and it’s good that you are here. In fact, this is where God wants us to be! If you ever want to volunteer, please send me an email, but if you don’t have the time or are not the type to be involved, I want you to know that you are welcome here and, ultimately, praying is the most important thing we can do…so just keep coming and praying.

FAMILY MASS COMMITTEEThe Family Mass is celebrated every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. The children of our parish participate in many different ways during this special liturgy. Those who are at least ten years of age can be lectors, they read the intro, the first and second readings, and the petitions. During the homily the children are called to sit near the altar and listen to a message designed for them, as well as for the entire congregation.
Sometimes the presiding priest or deacon will give the homily, and at other times guest homilists will share their faith with our families. Each week a different family is asked to bring up the gifts at the Offertory.
Some of the children help the ushers take the collections during the mass.Worship is enhanced by Holy Spirit’s excellent musicians; The Children’s Choir and The Family Mass Band take turns each week sharing their musical talents with the congregation.
All children are encouraged to participate in some way during the Family Mass. We hope that all who attend the Family Mass and witness this beautiful celebration of God’s love for all feel that they are an important part of the Holy Spirit family.
The Family Mass Committee meets 2-3 times per year to plan special events, such as the Little Passion and the Christmas Pageant.
If you (adult or child) are interested in helping and/or participating in anyway please email: fawisnewski@gmail.com or see the coordinators after The Family Mass.

Sunday, November 17, 2019 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time(Lec, 159) 1) Malachi 3:19-20a 2) 2 Thessalonians 3:7-12 3) Luke 21:5-19
FOCUS: Our security lies in God alone; he is our anchor and strength. In the Gospel today, Jesus paints a picture of a time when there will be wars and earthquakes and famine. Yet he offers hope and says, Do not be terrified. We must know that our security cannot rest in anything of this world, but on God alone, who will sustain us in times of suffering.
LITURGY OF THE WORDIn the first reading, Malachi proclaims the coming judgment where the proud and evildoers will face destruction, while those who fear the Lord will be healed. In the second reading, Paul reminds believers to behave in an orderly way. In the Gospel, Jesus describes events that involve the persecution and suffering of believers, and warns them not to be taken in by false prophets or worldly signs.
