What is prediabetes?Prediabetes means your blood sugar is higher than normal, but not high enough for a doctor to diagnose you with diabetes.

People with prediabetes are at risk for:

Diabetes

Heart disease

Stroke

The good news is that losing weight and being active can cut your risk for diabetes in half!

What is diabetes?Food contains sugar (also called glucose).

Normally, the body breaks down sugar using a chemical called insulin.

Insulin helps to turn sugar into energy!

In people with diabetes…

The body doesn’t make insulin (Type 1 Diabetes) or can’t use insulin right (Type 2 Diabetes).

Thus, sugar can’t be turned into energy, so it builds up in the blood.
