Will Broughton,
12th Man - Limited Edition Ce-
The subject matter of my paintings is rooted in my love of
nature. My interest in the natural world began from an early
age, growing up in rural Cumbria. I try to create paintings
which strive towards beauty, and the happiness which that
beauty can instil in the viewer. My work is also further
inluenced by eighteenth century printmakers such as Hokusai and Hiroshige, with their strong yet never garish colour
palettes, and the beautiful patterns employed in Japanese
kimono design.
My trademark technique, developed over a number of years, is
to use reproductions of my own paintings as collage material
on the canvas. I continuously add to my own library of ‘source’
paintings, which are then reproduced and cut out ready to
create a inished piece. The canvas backgrounds are painted with acrylics. When the collage has been secured in place, I use
washes of inks, and may then apply other additional painted or
drawn details. Finally a clear gloss varnish is applied,
securing the collage, adding an opulent lustre, and bringing
out the depth of colour.

Lawrie Williamson was born in 1932 and educated in Der-
byshire. At the age of 16 he won a major exhibition prize
to study at Nottingham College of Art. This led Lawrie to
further his studies at Nottingham University and ultimately
at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts, in Paris. Throughout his career, Lawrie’s talents have been widely recognised. He is a past
winner of the Stanley Grimm Prize at the Annual Exhibition
of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, and can also list the
Canson Prize at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists to his many achievements
.
‘Over the years I have known the man and his work, I have
come to realise that they are one and the same. Both reveal, illuminate and delight. As for the paintings themselves I
can do no better than quote the late art critic and historian,
Brian Sewell: “Few, if any, handle the medium of oil painting as well as Lawrie Williamson”.’

We are delighted to announce the release of a second series
of strong contemporary paintings from home counties
artist, Ron Chadwick, which follow fast on the success of a
irst collection, released in January of this year.
We were introduced to Ron’s work last year by one of our
major collectors, and were instantly taken with the concept
behind his work - smart, contemporary takes on pop culture
icons from the past few decades - allied to his serious
abilities as a painter.
The work, to our mind, calls back to some of the great
popular artists of the last century - Jackson Pollock,
Norman Rockwell & Richard Hamilton - all artists that Ron happily cites as inluences on his work. Ron is though, an
artist made in his own image, irmly in control of his brush and the themes he transfers to the canvas. Ron’s natural
sense of the theatrical, and his lamboyancy are evident in the paintings. Having now spent four decades working as a painter, he has a vast armoury of both experience, and
styles and techniques to draw on, and the freedom that
brings with it breathes through this striking range of work.
This is very much an artist painting for his own
satisfaction, as Ron himself puts it; “I do it for myself.. I like to see what paint does and how it moves about the
canvas”.

As an artist I would consider myself to be more of a travel-
ler than a settler, something of a tourist passing through.
I’ve been, for instance, through De Kooning county, around
Pollock Place, up Picasso Piazza and many other places
in between. I’ve no intention of taking up residence in any
of them, however interesting they might be. I’m searching
for my own place. These latest paintings represent a stage
on this ongoing journey rather than any ixed destination. They are an invention, not a cover version. An exploration,
not a discovery. A question, not a conclusion.
I’m a visual inventor, I’m looking to disrupt
expectations, to react unlikely elements together, to
combine the seemingly incongruous, to cultivate ambiguity
and to express the inexpressible.
My intention as an artist is not topographical, but
existential. My aspiration is to touch on the wonder and the
mystery of things in work that is visually stimulating and
interesting and that invites interpretation and
contemplation.

Cheshire Art Agencies were delighted earlier on in 2015 to
announce that we had been appointed as the exclusive
distributors for the bestselling range of prints and original
works from established artist, Margaret Clarkson. It now
gives us great pleasure to unveil this new set of original
works, as well as a new giclee print to add to her successful
commercial range..
Margaret, as many of you will know, is a four time inalist of the Fine Art Trade Guild’s, ‘Best selling published artist’ of the year award, and this highly affordable collection of
prints is sure to make an impact on Christmas sales and
onwards throughout 2016
”Drawing underpins much of my work, and I usually keep
a small sketch book with me so that I can respond to what-
ever I ind interesting, whether it is people, places, things or perhaps ideas for a picture.
I do fairly quick studies in pen which can then be developed
later or be used as a starting point for a painting.”

Drawing inspiration out of everything from the human body to
the metaphysical, the vast breadth and depth of Janet’s work
has always been important to her. Whether depicting wildlife,
the female form, or quite often both, the subject is always
majestically spiritual and embellished with nature, giving a
constantly transforming and narrative experience to the eye.
The diversity of Janet’s work is driven by her constant curios-
ity towards reality and fantasy, which she breathes through her
craft. Her interest in science, art and spirituality is symbolised by countless varying styles and ideas that come together on the
canvas sub-consciously and often spontaneously. This
interconnectedness she strives to create, the emotional
connection between all things, can be sensed in between the
multiplicity of her technique.
Janet now resides in rural Cornwall with her family and pets,
here she inds that she can be at her most creative, close to nature and in tune with her art.

Taken from his successful one man exhibition “Journeyman”, this evocative collection of limited edition prints relects
Alistair’s fascination with the USA and it’s iconic painters and
illustrators.
Recalling the great American road movies and cast in the dual
moulds of Film Noir and the truly sensational Pulp Fiction
novels, these highly charged and very collectable images are
available exclusively through Cheshire Art Agencies in strictly
limited editions of 75 copies.
Through the use of strong tones and high contrast he strives
to achieve a feeling of mood and intensity, whilst leaving a
question mark over the true meaning of the piece. The effect
remains spell binding, his talent for story telling is prodigious,
every work fraught with narrative tension and unanswered
questions.
