Absences• You are responsible for finding out what

you missed while you were gone.• See your teacher IMMEDIATELY when you return

Prior Approval Policy

•School-Related/Pre-Approved Absences:•All work from the day(s) you were gone

and all current work is due on the day you return.• If you are gone for [event*] on Thursday

• Anything else…??

Homework• Doing homework is your responsibility.

• You will not receive credit for doing homework in this class.

• So, WHY DO HOMEWORK…!!!???

Homework• Working practice problems in homework

helps prepare you for the final assessment of your knowledge.• Some of you may not need to practice something

you already know or understand right away.• Others may need a lot of practice.

• You decide.

• Your choices determine the outcome…

My great concern is not whether you have

failed, but whether you are content with your

failure.

Honors Option• By the end of the week, you must decide if

you would like to work toward the “Chemistry with Honors” option. • An Honors course will cover required content standards in

greater depth and may cover additional content standards when appropriate.

• Honors materials may be differentiated from the standard course materials to challenge students' thinking (supplemental materials when appropriate).

• An Honors course will have differentiated assessments where students are expected to engage in tasks that display a greater depth of knowledge than a standard course.

• An Honors course will assess students on a rubric differentiated from the standard course rubric with expectations aligned toward a greater depth of knowledge.

Honors Option

assessments• At least 50% of ratings are 3.5 or higher AND the rest are not

below 3.0

•Ratings of 3.0 or higher on all honors assessments

Testing• You will be given the option to retake any

on your assessments. • It should reflect how much you know.
