This breakthrough has raised many hopes of putting this new technology to good use.

Dr Anirban Bandyopadhyay of the National Institute for Materials Science says molecular machines could be used to remotely operate on tumors.
The only drawback to his idea is that you cannot just put them into the blood and expect them where to go.
One day we may be able to guide the nanobots through the body and control their functions, says DR. B
