Challenge 6

Challenge of Establishing

a Future Society

in Harmony with Nature

Approximately 8.6 million trees planted in total

Toyota’s Forestry

Collaborative activities with employees of Toyota's affiliates,

communities, and various organizations

Europe 6,500 trees

Africa 140,000 trees

China 4.68 million trees North America

420,000 trees

Central and South America 50,000 trees

Japan 230,000 trees

Asia Pacific 3.07 million trees

Toyota’s Forestry

Planting tree activities at plants widely spread globally starting from 2008.

Fifty thousand people have planted native species for the past 8 years.

Planting trees at plants

Employees and family members, and community members

have planted native species.

Employees of all the plants cultivate the trees to grow

into abundant forests.

Along with the growth of the forests and biotope, surrounding native living creature

and plants increasingly build nests, and these rich natural

environments are starting to connect with the communities.

Environmental Activity Grant

In addition to forestry, we have launched environmental conservation projects

in the company-owned fields in partnerships with NGOs, government, and local residents,

and have gradually expanded the range of nature and habitats

Indonesia rainforest preservation

Green Corridor Project in Guinea

Japan Aqua Social Fes

Rare species ecosystem conservation project Brasil & Argentina

ca. 100 projects per annum

and outside company-owned Toyota fields implementing

environmental education according to the local culture.

Japan

It is important to restore the fragmented habitats quickly

Problem awareness

Habitats in each region are still segregated due to economic development, and biodiversity losses have not stopped

Forests equivalent of 14% of the land area of Japan are lost annually

In surrounding forests, grasslands, waterfronts, swamps, development is causing habitats to shrink and segregate.

Toyota’s challenges from now on

We will connect our current activities with activities in the group companies,

local communities, organizations, and further expand them globally

Three “connecting” projects
