Parliamentary Secretaryto the Minister for Educat-ion Senator Scott Ryan an-nounced the re-launch ofthe myfuture website, whichhosts information to helppeople make better in-formed career decisions.

The upgraded website in-cludes a new Assist YourChild feature aimed at par-ents..

‘‘The portal also offersnew features for students,including a forum wherethey will be able to talkonline to industry profess-ionals. The new mobile ver-sions will also make the siteeasier to navigate throughsmartphones and tablets,’’Senator Ryan said.

The myfuture site was setup in 2002 as a joint initiat-ive of all Australian stateand territory governments,and is operated by Educat-ion Services Australia.

PARENTS of Central Australiahave been urged to take advantageof upgrades to an animal enclosureat Alice Springs Desert Park byMinister Parks and Wildlife BessPrice.

‘‘It’s important for people to beable to come to the Desert Park andsee how spectacular these animalsare,’’ Mrs Price said.

‘‘It’s great for children as well tolearn a bit about Central Australia.

‘‘I urge all parents and local peopleto bring their children to be able tobe in touch with nature.’’

Mrs Price inspected the upgradedenclosures at the Alice SpringsDesert Park on Tuesday morning.

The enclosure houses a newperentie exhibit , two newaquariums and a redesigned en-trance to the aviary.

‘‘These upgrades took severalmonths to complete and now in-clude a new perentie exhibit, twonew aquariums and a redesignedentrance to the aviary,’’ Mrs Pricesaid.

‘‘The aquarium area of the River-ine Display was dated and poorly setout. The viewing space has beenvastly improved and the newaquariums provide better scope toincrease the variety of fish species

from the Central Australian re-gion.’’

The perentie enclosure is fittedwith heat pads and lighting toprovide warmth during the wintermonths which will encourage thegoannas to remain active.

The open walk through design ofthe aviary and the waterhole board-walk gives the visitor an up closeand personal experience with theanimals.

Senior secondary stud-ents across the Territoryreceived their NorthernTerritory Certificate of Ed-ucation and Training(NTCET) results yesterday.

Central Australia de-livered seven of the top 20graduates in the Territorywith Nina Miers from StPhilips College pulling off

the second top ATAR - awhopping score of 99.8.

St Philips College rearedsix of the seven top Central-ians. Headmaster ChrisTudor told the Centralian

Advocate it had been a goodmorning.

‘‘We’re very proud. Proudof all the students andproud of all the teachers,’’he said.

Our Lady of Sacred HeartCollege (OLSH) wasn’t leftout of the mix withCameron Brown getting anATAR of 99.4, the fourth top

in the Territory. AlainaStandish and AishwariyaSeshakumaran from StPhilips scored ATARS of99.2 and 98.7 respectivelyand Anika Patel, NaomiIngamells and SamuelNippress attained 97.9.

Alaina plans to studyAerospace Engineering.

‘‘I’m pretty happy with myscore - it’s quite exciting,’’she said.

In 2013, 1255 students com-pleted the NTCET, an in-crease of 46 students on theprevious year.

Ashleigh Ascoli fromO’Loughlin College was thetop Indigenous student outof 174 who have completedthe certificate this year.

Minister for EducationPeter Chandler congratu-lated all graduates at Dar-win High School yesterday.

‘‘This is the largest num-ber of NTCET completers,and demonstrates a reward-ing partnership betweenteachers and studentswithin challenging learningenvironments,’’ Mr Chand-ler said.

‘‘Significantly, the num-ber of Indigenous NTCETqualifiers this year has risenby 30 per cent compared to2012.’’

Ben Hall from OLSH wasup at 7.15am to get hisresults and was delightedwith his 87.85. OLSH’sAndrew Davis was aiming tobeat his brother’s ATAR of85 and was very pleased withhis score of 93.25

Elsie Lange from Central-ian Senior School said shewas stoked with her ATARof 95.5.
