Through Port Saint JohnLast year, 312,000 metric tonnes of container cargo went through the Port.

That weighs the same as more than two million harbour seals. They weigh 136 kilograms each!

Last year, 873,000 metric tonnes of dry bulk went through the Port.

That’s the same as 873 million 1 kg bags of salt.

Last year, 26.5 million metric tonnes of liquid bulk went through the Port.

That’s enough to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool 10,794 times.

Transportation• There are many modes of transportation for goods. Do you see any of these in

your everyday life?

• Did you know?– Shipping goods by sea not only costs less but it has a smaller

environmental impact than rail or truck. – If we took 1 large ship out of service, we would have to add 875 truckloads on the
