SCMP Marketing Solutions, with the expertise of scalable event management, helped Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund (AEF) organize a series of startup pitching events - Jumpstarter 2017 and provided AEF the print and digital advertising channels for marketing. Jumpstarter is a first-of-its-kind startup event that empowers HK’s startups and a platform where helps young people achieve their dreams.

Objective

Jumpstarter aims to:

- Help aspiring startup entrepreneurs jump-start their dreams through a series of pitching events

- Build, empower and boost Hong Kong’s startup community

- Transform Hong Kong into a leading hub for global innovation and technology

SCMP Marketing Solutions helps to organize 8 semi-pitch events and Grand Finale that provide an open and fair stage for startup

to pitch for funding and facilitate startups to create business opportunities with investors.

ObjectiveSCMP Marketing Solutions successfully implemented AEF’s idea for the event programme, including a clear action plan that reflected all areas of the scope of work for the event execution. That included setting up booths for participating startups to demonstrate VR entertainment and newest technology devices to the public. To inspire audiences, SCMP Marketing Solutions developed all the insightful topics for all speeches and panel discussions which were moderated by South China Morning Post's editors. To enhance public engagement, audiences were encouraged to vote for their favourite startup teams in the pitching events.

Objective

With the aim of transforming Hong Kong into a leading hub for innovation and technology, SCMP Marketing Solutions created a series of useful and informative online content on hot topics, trend of start-up, news of popular industries such as Fintech, Robotics, Big data, AI and wearables to educate and raise mass public's interests towards the field.

This content helped sustain the no. of visitors to the campaign website and also engaged extensive target audiences from Hong Kong and overseas market.

ResultsThroughout the 6-month campaign period, Jumpstarter received over 600 applications from more than 10 startup industries: FinTech, Robotics, Wearables/IoT/EduTech, Healthy Ageing, Sensors & Advanced Materials, E-Commerce, Smart City and Big Data/AI.

ResultsIn the 8 semi-round pitching and 1 Grand Finale event, over 2,600 attendees experienced the inaugural Jumpstarter with 1,770 tickets sold for the finale event. Promoted by SCMP printed and eDM, tickets were sold out in six weeks.

ResultsJumpstarter also provided business matching opportunities for startups and VCs in the Grand Finale event. 154 cases were successfully lined-up within 3 hours.
