Living Camden is a nonprofit organization that finds local supermarkets, shopping centers, and clinics willing to participate in lending a helping hand in bettering Camden, New Jersey.
Our mission is to enhance the dignity and quality of life of individual’s families and communities by eliminating obstacles to opportunity and helping people in need reach their fullest potential through the power of work.
This binder aims to help single mothers in Camden. It includes tips, tools, and guidelines that will be added to monthly. It shows ways in which you can improve your life with the basic needs.

The First Food Stamp Program (FSP) - May 16, 1939-Spring 1943
TheideaforthefirstFSPiscreditedtovariouspeople,mostnotablySecretaryofAgriculture HenryWallaceandtheprogram’sfirstadministrator milo perkins. the program operated by permitting people on relief to buy orange stamps equal to their normal food expenditures; for every $1 worth of orangestampspurchased,50centsworthofblue stamps were received. orange stamps could be used to buy any food; blue stamps could only be used to buy food determined by the Department to be surplus.
