ECONOMIC OUTLOOK

Americans are optimistic about the future and believe their children had more opportunities than previous generations.

They consider themselves both pro-business and pro-worker but believe that neither party does a good job at balancing

the needs of workers and businesses.

Sixty-four percent of voters report feeling optimistic about the economy. An even stronger majority

believe todays children have more opportunities than previous generations (71%). While most voters feel that

opportunities for middle-class and working Americans have declined over the past 20 years (45%), a plurality of voters also

believe opportunities will increase for middle-class and working Americans in the next 20 years (41%).

Voters see themselves as both pro-worker (88%) and pro-business (59%) but are more likely to describe themselves

as pro-worker. This is true across all demographic groups, including conservatives, Republicans, and households making

above $60,000 a year. Notably, registered voters see neither the Democratic Party nor the Republican Party as being

particularly good at balancing the needs of workers and businesses in the economy.

Those who are pro-worker are more likely to say that Democrats do a good job balancing the needs of workers

and business44% say the Democrats do a good job, 31% say Republicans do. Pro-business voters do not favor either

party41% say Democrats do a good job and 40% say the same of Republicans.
