BSA High Adventure trip

Why high adventure?

• Give younger scouts something to look forward to as they get older (14 ish).

• Provide specialized adventures through BSA (Mountain Climbing, Sailing, SCUBA)

There are Three (3) BSA High Adventure Sites:

Why SEABASE?

• We are planning a Sea base Trip June 2007– Sea Adventures – Deep Sea Fishing– Sailing– Snorkeling

What are the Physical Requirements for Seabase?

• Physically Fit– Class 3 medical Form

• Can not weigh over 300 lbs.• Age

– 14 by September 1st – Complete BSA Swim Test

Physical Limitations

So if I am 14 yrs old 6 foot 2 inches tall and 165 lbs I meet the Physical Requirements

• STRICT MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS For (SCUBA)

• Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus• Seizure Disorders or Epilepsy• Asthma

If the Scout has a history of Medical Problems Additional Medical Documentation is Required

The Route to Seabase

1,000 Miles or about 20 Hours

Primary Question is how to get there from here?

Three Airports near SEABASE ExistAirfare is between $300 - $600

Round Trip 1 Vehicle ~ $200/person

What Programs Are Offered?

Scuba

There are 9 Different Programs

• Out Island • Coral Reef• SCUBA (2) Beginner & Advanced• Florida Keys Adventure Program• Sea Exploring (Large Group)• Bahamas (2) (International)• Ocean Adventure (Age requirement 16)

Cost

• Varies between Adventures, but generally between $500 – $700 per person

• Sailing Adventures are less expensive

• All Adventures have Minimum and Maximum number of People

How to Sign up

• Adventures at SEABASE go on year round.

• Slots are competitive• Slots for the Summer of 2007 will be

pulled from a lottery in Winter 2006– Enter Lottery on-line Jan 15th – Feb 15th

– Pay $100.00/scout deposit after selected– Pay Half of total by August 2006– Deposit is transferable but not refundable

We are considering a Sailing Adventure in Early June 2007

Total Cost /person is ~$700Includes Transportation and 8 day Sailing Adventure
