Create as much value as possible starting with one loaf of bread.

Idea

• Create a model that can be duplicated in communities throughout the world

• Under or unemployed who desire work are trained to make and

sell bread in their communities*Many rural communities in USLack local bakery

How to achieve

1. Work with a High school– Select student who needs senior project– Student creates presentation and a loaf of bread– Presents to local community groups (economic

development, port district, churches, interested persons) to create interest and involvement

– May auction off bread to raise money for bread supplies

2. Identify specialty bread-product

-Mexican sweet bread, tortillas, naan bread, fry bread, other ethnic breads, gluten free breads, medical specialty breads

3. Identify market for bread -grocery stores -specialty markets -CVA’s & Farmers Markets -Individual sales and future internet sales

Locate production kitchen

• Community kitchen• Church or school kitchen• Approved by health authorities• Clean & sanitary

Select workers who are :

Trained in baking, packaging, purchasing, marketing and other aspects of business management

Product is prepared and delivered.Workers share in profits with some used to start

bakeries in other communities.

Under and unemployed

• Become business owners• Make and sell product• Seek out ways to expand business• Help other community to start similar

businesses• Benefit local communities with locally

prepared, fresh specialty breads.
