New silicone microemulsion from DowCorning benefits shampoos

Dow Corning has introduced DowCorning CE-1874 Microemulsion forshampoos. The new product can helpbring hair repair and colour protectionbenefits to shampoos withoutsacrificing hair volume, the companysays. It is a clear, water-dispersiblemicroemulsion of silicone polyetherthat delivers feather-lightsmoothness. Dow Corning CE-1874Microemulsion can be used instandard, sulfate-free and clearshampoos to help increase thefullness of thin, tired-looking hair; torepair dull, dry hair; and to protectand maintain the colour of colour-treated hair. Suitable for use on manyhair types, the product also has theability to enhance hair shine andimprove ease of combing. In additionto shampoos, Dow Corning CE-1874Microemulsion can be used to createclear, moisturizing leave-inconditioners. The product is availableglobally and complies with regulationsfor cosmetic use in China. DowCorning showcased the newmicroemulsion at in-cosmetics 2014in Hamburg, Germany, held 1-3 Apr2014, where the company alsodiscussed its new diglycerol-modifiedwater-in-oil silicone emulsifier. Thisadvanced new emulsifier technologyoffers high oil flexibility andemulsification capabilities for highlystable formulations, and is suitable foruse in PEG-free skin care, colourcosmetics and sun care applications,Dow Corning says. The company also

introduced a new portfolio ofaqueous-based silicone solutions forskin care, colour cosmetics and suncare products.

Wacker exhibited silicone products atPCHi 2014

Wacker showcased several novelproducts and solutions at thePersonal Care and HomecareIngredients (PCHi) Show 2014 inShanghai, China on 19-21 Feb 2014.Among them was Belsil DM 6103 E,an emulsion for hair care developedexclusively for the Chinese market.Designed to improve the combabilityof wet hair, Belsil DM 6103 E is amedium-grain nonionic emulsion ofpolydimethylsiloxane for shampoos,rinse-off hair conditioners, hair masksand leave-in hair conditioners. Whenused with the conditioning additiveBelsil DM 3112 VP, the emulsionfurther enhances the silkysmoothness and persistence of bothwet hair and dry hair. Belsil DM 6103E can also be used with theaminofunctional silicone fluid BelsilADM 6058 CN, an oil-in-wateremulsion for shampoos, cream rinsesand hair treatments.

At in-cosmetics 2014 in Hamburg,BRB International BV presented a new silicone quaterniummicroemulsion. BRB 5446 is a clear, nonionic microemulsion of aquaternary ammonium functionalsilicone with INCI names aqua,silicone quaternium-17, trideceth-7, trideceth-5, methyl-chloroisothiosolinane andmethylisothiosolinane. This hair careproduct offers wet and dry detangling,heat protection, and conditioning.BRB also presented 7 new cosmeticformulations for the European market,including shampoo and conditioners.

New solutions for the home andinstitutional care markets revealed atthe ACI convention

Dow Chemical showcased some of itslatest solutions for the home andinstitutional care markets at theAmerican Cleaning Institute (ACI)Annual Convention in Orlando, FL,USA, on 27 Jan – 1 Feb 2014.Among the products featured by thecompany was Triton CG-425 alkylpolyglucoside surfactant, which iscompatible in many cleaningformulations and mild to the skin, andDowanol DiPPh glycol ether, which isspecially developed to offer excellentdegreasing and cleaning performancewith minimal streaking. It alsoshowcased Diamosolv 323 bio-basedsolvent, a low odour, low-VOCcleaning solvent derived from 100%renewable citrus feedstocks, andSupracare Performance-EnhancingCellulose Polymers for use in the lastrinse step of the wash cycle; thesenovel polymers impart softness,longevity and shrink resistance forfabric and clothes, Dow says. Amongother new polymers for use withdetergents introduced at the meeting,was Solvay’s Repel-O-Tex PB1, apolymer that gives soil repellency in alaundry detergent. Meanwhile,Ashland Specialty Ingredientsintroduced Chromabond-S-350, apolyvinylpyridine N-oxide that will stopdye transfer among clothes.
