PHRASAL VERBSPhrasal verbs are usually two-word phrases consisting of verb + adverb or verb + preposition. this results in new phrasal verbs with a very different meaning than it gives us the dictionary for individual verbs. Phrasal verbs can be divided into three groups:• Inseparable compound verbs• Separable compound verbs• intransitive verbs

GET ON

MEANING:Subir/ Montarse

EXAMPLE:The bus was full . We couldn’t get on.

DRIVE OFF

MEANING:Marcharse (en un vehículo) de algún lugar.

EXAMPLE:A woman got into the car and drove off.

COME BACKMEANING:Volver a algún lugar.

EXAMPLE:Sally is leaving tomorrow and coming back on Saturday.

TURN ROUNDMEANING:Cambiar de dirección y girarse.

EXAMPLE:When I touched him on the shoulder, he turned round.

BREAK DOWNMEANING:Dejar de funcionar , dejar de operar. (romperse) EXAMPLE:Sorry I'm late. The car broke down.

LOOK OUT MEANING:Ser cuidadoso, estaratento, permanecer atento.

EXAMPLE:Look out! there’s a car coming.

TAKE OFFMEANING:Despegar.EXAMPLE:It was my first flight. I was nervous as the plane took off.

EAT OUTMEANING:Comer fuera.EXAMPLE:There wasn’t anything to eat at home, so we decided to eat out.

WORK OUTMEANING:Ejercitarse.EXAMPLE: Diego works out at the gym three times a week.
