Dear Parents,

We like to celebrate success at Kelvin Road School. There is quite a bit of success and in the limited time I have, I would like to tell you about one example.

Basic Facts….we love them….and we are

really good at them.

Did you know…

…every Friday all Year 3 – 6 children sit a basic

facts test?…

Did you know…

…that the Year 6 children only have 6 ½ minutes to read, solve

and answer 100 questions?…

…and that some can do it in less than 2 minutes?

…that we use 12 different tests so the answers cannot be

memorised…

Missey’s 1st basic facts

score ever was 11…

…and that this year she has scored eight

100s….and eight 99s?

Karandeep’s 1st basic facts

score ever was 0…

…and now he averages 98.5?

Did you know…

Jareth’s 1st score ever was 14….

…and now his lowest score in the last 20

tests is 98?

Did you know…Shaquille’s 1st basic

facts score ever was 9…

…and now he averages 99?

Did you know…Georena’s and Nesha’s

1st basic facts score ever was 35…

…and now Georena’s lowest score for this whole year is 97…

…and Nesha, in Term 2, had the lowest score of 99…..and the rest were

hundreds?

Did you know…

Charles’ 1st 6 scores ever were 5…7…9…5…

12...5…

…and for 2012 he scored a massive

sixteen 100s….7 of them were in a row?

Did you know…Leighton’s 1st basic facts

score ever was 11…

…and now 6 out of 8 of all scores are 100 out of

100?
