The Pickle Barrel Server/Hostess; Vaughan
The Pickle Barrel is a fast-paced, family oriented restaurant with a large menu. After four months of working as a hostess, I was offered a promotion to become a server. Some of the key traits in the restaurant industry are customer service, time man-agement, effective commu-nication, and initiative, as well as cleanliness, organization, and responsibility.
December 2013 to March 2015
As a design studio hostess, I was the initial point of contact with the guests, as I greeted new home owners in a wel-coming manner. I provided buyers with a tour of the de-sign studio, while explaining the “standards” and “up-grades” in their home. Oth

The main living area is open concept, en-couraging collaborative music opportunities. Re-enforcing this concept is the open/closed bedroom concept that allows the musicians to open their private space so that everyone can work together. Within the central space are three “Musik Boxes”, located at three different heights within the main living space, allowing a private, but collaborative space for the musicians to practice. Furn i ture Des ignPARALLEL (Group Project) - Project Description/Shop Drawings
The concept behind “Parallel” evolved from the growing de-sire to have spaces and products that are multi-function-ing and collapsible. Each piece of Parallel utilizes minimal space, and the interconnecting design allows for the dia-monds to be adaptable and interchangeable. This product allows the user to have control over both the look of their space, and its function. Parallel can be assembled into sev-eral different forms, including but not limited to: a bench, a stool, a desk, and a simple shelving unit. Maintaining clean lines and a minimalistic design was also critical. This allows for easy storage with no interferance, as well as versatility when using the product.

Diane von Furstenburg’s Studio Headquarters is located in New York City. The headquarters oc-cupies what was previously an existing building, and was recently renovated. Through this case study, I was required to gain an understanding of the parti of the project, circulation, as well as sightlines, which were all explored in 3D models. The highlight of the space is the “stairdelier”, a staircase that runs from the bottom floor to the fifth floor, and brings sunlight through the building by glass panels strung along the sides of the stairs. The models below are representations of the “stairdelier”.

The unconventional theatre in the basement will have multipurpose amphitheater seating that continues into the adjoining exterior space. Located on the second floor is a residence for the performers, directors, and special guests.

The three unique spaces of CINE are tied together through a 45 degree angle that mimics the entrance of the original post office. The angle is expressed differently on each floor, through direc-tionality, ceiling treatments, and circulation. CINE will be a creative hub for the community, a space where everyone can come together to create, watch, and partake in theatre.
