From Preferences on the HOME Page, you can tweak what types of solutions you want returned to you. This will narrow your search results.

Searching the Portal using the standard text search

• A search string should contain a minimum of three different words.

• Do not include common words such as "the," "not," "a," "and," "at," etc.

• Include the application name as part of the search string.• When searching for an error-related issue, use the

complete error message. • Searching for a word automatically searches for its

synonyms, as well. For example, searching for "establish" also searches for "create.”

• Be neither to precise nor too vague

Clicking on an article will display the answer.

Whatever you do, once you’ve read the article, pay attention to this box. It helps us help you.

What happens when you click on “Open Incident”

Clicking on the Top Answers Tab . . . .

ITS Website

• News• Notices• Feeds from ITS Twitter Account• Overview of ITS

Lynda.comOnline training including multiple topics and multiple software titles

Lynda.comExample of software titles

• Whenever I have a question I google it• Sometimes the answers are correct• Sometimes they’re so far wrong as to set

a new standard for Bad• But it’s a reasonable resource

Probably OK in this case BUT NOT ALWAYS!!

Probably completely useless in this case
