Upcoming Professional Day-
Tentative Snow Day #2 Monday, April 18th
We would like to remind our parents
that, as a result of not having any
school closures due to bad weather
and/or emergencies thus far, Monday,
April 18th will be our second tentative
snow day for the 2015-2016 school
year. As it is a professional day, the
school will be closed to students.
Please make arrangements to keep
your child(ren) at home on this day.
However, daycare services will be
available. You may contact Mrs.
Angela Crescenzi at 514-788-0021 for
further information regarding daycare
services.
EMSB Impact Soccer Night – tickets $13 each
As part of the partnership for the stay-in-
school program, the annual EMSB Night
will take place on Wednesday, June 8th,
2016 when the Impact host Toronto FC.
Once again there will be a special
ceremony at half time, with bursaries
being awarded to two top students.
These bursaries are named in honour of
the late Tony Licursi, the longtime Impact
statistician who passed away nine years
ago. Mr. Licursi was a member of the
EMSB’s James Lyng High School Alumni
Association. For every ticket sold at the
very special price of $13, $2 will be
donated to the Inspirations Foundation.
For any questions, please send an e-mail
to communications@emsb.qc.ca
Term 3
This is a very important term as it takes into account everything the students
have learned throughout the school year. Term 3 counts for 60% of the total
mark for the school year.
Exam Period
Our students will be in the process of writing end of the year Ministry and
Board exams during the months of April, May and beginning of June. It is vital
that all students be present in school for these exams. We remind parents that
this is not the time to book family vacations or take medical appointments, as
certain sections of the exams are to be done in groups and specific times are
blocked. Sections of the exams that are missed cannot be given at a different
time. The exams are based on specific activities (books that are read, class
discussions that are held) that cannot be re-created for an absent student.
The final exams will be part of the Term 3 and end-of-cycle evaluations.
CAT IV (Grade 1, 3 & 5) April 18th to April 29th, 2016 Every year, our Grade 1, 3 & 5 students write the Canadian Achievement
Tests. Areas in which students write the CAT IV include English and
Mathematics.
EMSB Special Recognition for Volunteers- Tuesday, April 12th
Carlyle’s parent volunteers, who devoted over five years of dedicated service to
our school, will receive a special invitation from the EMSB to attend the annual
Volunteer Appreciation Night. This will be held on Tuesday, April 12th, 2016 at
Le Renaissance. A sit-down dinner will be served and many festivities will take
place throughout the evening. We extend our gratitude to all our parent
volunteers for their involvement in enriching the school life for our children.
Grade 4 Vaccination – 2nd dose April 12th
The second dose of vaccines will be given on Tuesday, April 12th at Carlyle
School. Please remember to send your child’s immunization booklet with him/her
on that day, in order for the nurse to indicate the vaccine(s) given.
Sincerely,
Anna-Maria Borsellino & The Carlyle Team Principal
“ It takes a village to raise a child.”

Carlyle PPO News and Updates
The Carlyle PPO Committee is excited for their annual IB-PYP library
fundraiser. Parents, family and friends will be given the opportunity to purchase
additional books for our International Baccalaureate school library. Your
donated books will enrich every child’s IB experience and broaden Carlyle’s
International library. The IB book(s) will have a dedication in your honour.
Get Ready for our Annual Used Book/Toy Sale Organized by the Carlyle PPO on Thursday, May 5th
It's time to clean up, clear out and bring your used books, toys, video games,
board games, D.V.D.s and second-hand uniforms to the office. Our annual
book/toy sale will be held, in the school gym, on Thursday, May 5th! The
children will have a scheduled time where they will be able to shop. Parents will
be welcomed to join them. It is time to start preparing. You may send your
donations in with your children or drop them off at the school’s office. The funds
made from the sale will go towards the school’s technology and enrichment
purchases. If you have any questions about what to donate, or if you would like
to volunteer for this event, please contact Mrs. Koula Kalomiris at
koula_kalomiris@yahoo.com or Mrs. Julie Minkoff at jcminkoff@sympatico.ca
We will need volunteers to prepare for this event, set up, work at and clean up
afterwards. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents who sent in
donations already.
Thank you! Styvia Kyres, Georgia Michas & The Carlyle PPO
