JOHN MCDONALDMAY 1st • 6:30 PM, WHISKEY JOE’Shttp://www.johnmcdonaldmusic.com
John McDonald blends tropical instrumentation, world beat rhythms and positive lyrical themes.
The result is John’s feel-good, up-tempo musical cocktail of tropical instrumentation, world beat rhythms and positive lyrical themes - an affirmative life philosophy!
Inspired by artists like Bob Marley, David Byrne, Jimmy Buffett, Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel, Stephen Stills and Sting, who integrate various styles of music from tropical destinations, John adapted the short but descriptive term Trop Rock in 1994.
He went on to front a “premier party band” (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review), John McDonald & the Mango Men, becoming a staple in regional concert venues as the opening band for a diverse list of contemporary and classic artists, including America, The Beach Boys, Hall & Oates and Smokey Robinson.
In the late 90’s, John released High Frequency Hope and Heartfelt Vibration, one of the first CDs self-consciously described and specifically designated a "Trop Rock" album. In 2005, he was characterized as a “Trop Rock innovator."
In 2014, John received enthusiastic media reviews for his first full-length CD as a solo artist, Right Place, Right Time, a collection of well-crafted, radio-friendly songs with poignant lyrics.
Although his new music represents a fresh reboot, John still loves to preside over a great party or corporate event and delivers a fun, high-energy performance of your favorite cover songs with his full-time, professional “party band” - the Mango Men. He also thrives on the intimacy of house concerts as a solo artist.
JONAS LORENCE BANDMAY 15th • 6:30 PM, WHISKEY JOE’Shttp://www.jonaslorence.com
Over the years, Jonas has been lucky enough to play with some of the best groups around including Lonely Child, The Dealers,
Mark McKinney and the Cosmic Cowboys, the Stooch Band and The American Gypsy Band.
He loves the blues and is a big fan of Texas blues guitar. Ever since he began playing guitar, the blues has always been at the heart of what he does. Growing up on the coast has also become a big part of who he is. He loves the old Jimmy Buffett style of songwriting and hopes to keep that spirit alive.
Jonas loves Trop Rock music and before anything he's a huge fan of the genre. He wants to see the music grow and become recognized from beach to beach across the globe. He plans on turning people on to new artists and making his own beach music for the rest of his life, and hopefully continue to perform live whereever he's invited to play.

Charity of the Month
Florida Parrot Rescuehttp://floridaparrotrescue.com/
Help support the Florida Parrot Rescue in August at the next Bar Stroll in Maderia Beach.
Florida Parrot Rescue works throughout the entire state of Florida, and is a 501c3 non-profit, all volunteer run, avian rescue dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of companion parrots. We understand that all parrot owners love their birds, and that finding a new home for their birds is used as a last option. Florida Parrot Rescue remains non-judgmental and supportive in your time of need. If you need to re-home your bird, Florida Parrot Rescue can help by offering your bird a safe place to stay and get veterinary care until the right home can be found!
All of our birds have been to one of the many avian veterinarians we use across the state of Florida. Each bird – regardless of size or species – has been given a full well bird check with either a full physical with a fecal gram stain and cultures or a physical with blood work (or both – this is determined by the veterinarian). Some birds have multiple veterinarian visits before they are placed up for adoption (depending on any health issues which need to be resolved before being cleared for adoption by the veterinarian). Any dogs or cats we have available for adoption will be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and on flea and heart worm medications.
Please be aware that adopting a bird is a lifelong responsibility, as many birds out-live their owners. We take special care in matching up our adoptable birds with the right owners to build lasting relationships and forever homes. Florida Parrot Rescue is licensed with the state of Florida as a non-profit and has attained 501c3 tax exempt status.
If you are not sure if having a parrot in your life is for you, or you would like to learn more about parrots, please check out our education section and also watch the PBS documentary Parrot Confidential to learn more about the plight of parrots in captivity. You can also read about Parrot Conservation in the New World by Nigel Collar and about Dimensions and Causes of the Parrot Conservation Crisis by N.J. Collar and A.T. Juniper.

BUFFETT’S SOASOAS HIGH TIDE TOUR KICKS OFF IN ORANGE BEACH AL
Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band kicked off the 2019 “Son Of A Son Of A Sailor High Tide Tour” on April 23rd at The Wharf Amphitheater in Orange Beach AL. The set list from the show is now available. Some of the highlights of the show included “Holiday,” “Tides,” “Dreamsicle,” along with covers of the songs “Half Drunk” (Will Kimbrough cover), and “The World Is What You Make It” (Paul Brady cover).
MARGARITAVILLE RESORT BILOXI & AMUSEMENT PARK
New details are emerging on the new Margaritaville amusement park after developers brought plans to the Biloxi Review Committee on Wednesday.
A list of rides, includes the first AEROBAR in the United States, along with the proposed opening time and the fact that a boardwalk with food trucks will be built.
Heavy equipment moved in a week ago to ready the lot just west of Margaritaville Resort Biloxi, and the plan is to have the park open by next spring, according to Barrington Development. The company restored the
former Casino Magic site that stood empty after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and reopened it in 2016 as Margaritaville.
CORAL REEFER LAUNCH IN FLORIDASurterra Wellness (Surterra), one of the nation’s fastest growing health and wellness companies, officially kicked-off the national launch of the Coral Reefer™ cannabis brand, a range of wellness-focused cannabis products and lifestyle merchandise, in Florida on April 19. The highly anticipated Coral Reefer brand will initially be exclusively distributed through the more than 20 Surterra Wellness Centers located in most major cities throughout Florida, and will roll-out in other states, including California and Nevada, by mid-summer 2019.
“It never dawned on me that Coral Reefer would be anything other than a cool name for a tropical band born out of the Key West lifestyle in the mid-70s,” singer, songwriter and best-selling author, Jimmy Buffett said. “But life is supposed to be about having fun and staying healthy enough to enjoy it. I think Coral Reefer will help a lot of folks do that.”
COMPASS BY MARGARITAVILLE HOTEL COMING TO LOUISVILLE KYBourbon Country is about to get a taste of Margaritaville. Another 150 hotel rooms are planned for downtown Louisville, and this time they’re all Jimmy Buffett inspired.Compass by Margaritaville Hotel and Resorts is bringing its resort-style vibe to 522 S. Fourth St., according to Kayla Louttit, spokesperson for the company.
That site is currently home to a parking lot, and is a half a block from the entrance to Fourth Street Live and two blocks from the newly expanded and remodeled Kentucky International Convention Center. The hotel is expected to open in the third quarter of 2021 and will feature a 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar and Margaritaville Restaurant. The property is expected to be the third of its kind in the country. The company broke ground on its first Compass
hotel in mid-March on Anna Maria Sound near Sarasota. That hotel is slated to open in early 2020. A second is expected to open in Beaufort, North Carolina, at the end of next year.
