Missing Su-30 jetwreckage found, fate

May 26: The wreckage of theIAF's Sukhoi-30 MKI fighterjet, which went missing withtwo pilots on board, was foundtoday in a dense forest nearTezpur in Assam after a three-day search operation, but fate ofthe crew is not known.

The Indian Air Forceordered a court of inquiry intothe crash, hours after the debrisof the fighter plane was sightedin an area 60 km from Tezpurairbase with which it lost radarand radio contact on Tuesday.

The Su-30 MKI jet had gonemissing shortly after taking offfrom Tezpur Air Force stationon a routine training sortie.

"A court of inquiry has beenordered to investigate the causeof the accident," IAFspokesperson WingCommander Anupam Banerjeesaid in Delhi.

IAF officials said the wreck-age was spotted from air andthere will be clarity once theteams on the ground reach thecrash site. (PTI)
