What are the turkey eggs like?

How long does it take for a turkey egg to hatch?

Speckled Turkey and Brown Chicken Eggs.

The eggs are white with speckles.

The babies are in the egg for 28 days.

Where do they live?

Do they live in Colorado?

Turkeys do live in the wild. They also live in farms and they live in the USA.

In Colorado, turkeys live on the plains and in the mountains.

Are there different kinds of turkeys?

Yes there are different kinds of turkeys. There are wild and farm turkeys. In Colorado there are Rio Grande and Merriam turkeys.

What covers the body of the turkey?

What color are their feathers?

Feathers

Turkeys have black and gold and blue feathers. Turkeys are colorful.

Black feathers cover their bodies. They have brown feathers too.

What is the wattle for? Do all turkeys have a wattle?

The boy turkeys use it for the girl turkeys to follow them. Only boy turkeys have a wattle.

Do they say gobble? How do they talk or make noise?

Yes, they gobble when they are in danger. They also cluck too.

Do turkeys fly?

Farm Yard Turkey

Yes, wild turkeys do fly but the farm yard turkeys don’t fly.

How is their sense of smell, hearing and sight?

They see really well day and night. They can’t smell well.

How fast can they run?

What do they eat and drink?

They can run up to 25 miles per hour.

They eat grasshoppers, green grass and worms. They drink water from lakes.

Cluck means the sound of a turkey.

Hatch is when the baby turkey comes out of an egg.

Merriam is a type of turkey in Colorado

Speckles mean little dots.

U.S.A. means United States of America.

Worms means bugs with no legs that wiggle.
