Services

Services are processes generated in ALEPH that may: • Manipulate the database in a certain way (e.g. build indexes)• Produce reports of data (e.g. circulation statistics or budget reports)• Produce correspondence (e.g. order lists or overdue notices)

ServicesTo access services, go to the Services option on the menu bar in the Circulation, Cataloging, ILL or Acquisitionsclient.

Once you’ve selected a service, a window will be displayed prompting you for variables that will impact the report. For example, this is the General Circulation Statistics (cir-30) form:

To fill out the form, use only lower case letters and no spaces inthe output file field, select other options from available fields:

When you have filled out the form, click Submit

New Task Manager InterfaceAdmin tab

The Task Manager interface has been removed from the ALEPH menu, and is now found in the Admin tab, which is found in all modules. The former tabs of the task Manager are all now nodes in the Admin tab:•File List•Batch Log •Batch Queue •Print Daemon

The File List displays the finished jobs that have printableresults. This window allows you to move the results to yourlocal drive where you can print or send them via e-mail depending on your print.ini setup.

To print, highlight your report name and click print:

If you wish to save your report to your computer, double-clickon the report name, click OK.

The report name will appear in the upper pane and you canprint from there.

Task ManagerThe Batch Log displays the jobs that have run or arerunning, along with the description of the parameters used.

Task ManagerThe Batch Queue lists the jobs that are waiting to be run. In order for the jobs to be processed, the “status” must be running.

The Print Daemon is used to transfer print files from the

server to the workstation according to the print ID.
