Schedule and Timelines

Bike training is on the open road going with the traffic. Athletes should avoid rush hour while training. Helmet required during training.

•Body marking will be done after the athletes rack their bike on their way out of the transition area. Athletes should wear shorts in order to be marked on the back on the leg.

Parade of Nations

• All athletes will be Welcome to participate in the Parade of Nations on Sparks St.

• Athletes will corral at the intersection of O'Connor St. & Sparks St., on the west side

• Will march along Sparks St. to in front of the CIBC building (Signage will be visible)

• You will be meeting with Amanda Stern & Larissa Mankis

Pre-start Procedure

Athlete line-up:• Holding area near the start line.• Toilets near the Transition and at the Athletes Area.• Proceed to the holding area 20 minutes prior to your

wave start and cross when officials direct athletes to start position. Be aware that this means crossing the run course.

Start Procedure

Athletes in position:• The start can be given any time after the TD

announces ”On your mark”• Air horn blast • The race starts

Run 1 OLYMPIC SPRINT 2 laps of 5km 1 lap of 5km

Bike2 laps of 20km 1 lap of 20km

Run 21 lap of 5km 1 lap of 2.5km

• Olympic distance 9.9km - Sprint 5.05km• Aid stations:

• 3 per lap• For locations see the map• Water, sponges• Discard plastic cups off course

Transition Area

• Traditional Bike Racks – numbered – every 75cm

• Orientation boards at the beginning of each row

• All equipment within your space• Bags to the War Museum• Mount line on the main road – Green tape

Bike course

• 2 laps Olympic total 19.9 km per lap• 1 lap Sprint total 19.9 km• Flat and technical• Timing mat at the end of each lap.• Tight turns into and out of Tunneys.• Haybales at critical points • Two Bike Penalty boxes one near transition and

the other at Tunneys. • Dismount line on the road into transition (red tape)

Legal distance: 12m between bikes (from your front wheel to their front wheel)

Penalties Information

• How do you know if you need to serve a penalty?The official will do the following –

•Sound a whistle or horn•Show a YELLOW CARD•Call your number•Advise you of the PENALTY• If you are shown a RED CARD, you may be disqualified

Penalties

•Stop in the next Penalty Box and must stay there for 1 minute for sprint distance/ 2 minutes for standard distance •It is the athletes responsibility to stop in the next Penalty Box. Failure to do this will result in disqualification.•A second drafting offence will lead to a disqualification

• 1 lap full lap for Olympic distance 5.05km and one half lap for Sprint distance 2.5 km

• Aid stations: • 3 per lap• For locations see the map• Water and sponges• Discard plastic cups off course

• Photo-finish• Congestion in finish area – move to recovery area.

Medical Procedures

• Only LOC Medical Staff are allowed in the medical area.

• Every NF accredited doctor MUST have completed the proof of medical license and proof of malpractice insurance!

• The NF accredited doctor is allowed in the medical area only when an athlete from their country is in the area.
