About IITRA Mauritius

ThroughMemorandumofUnderstandingbetweenMauritiusResearchCouncil(MRC)ofRepublicofMauritiusandtheIndianInstituteofTechnologyDelhi(IITD),IndiahaveintendedtoestablishprinciplesofcooperationwithrespecttothedevelopmentandimplementationonIITlikeinstitutioninMauritius.TheinstituteisofficiallynamedasInternationalInstituteofTechnologyResearchAcademy,MauritiuswhichisinitiallylocatedatBelAir,Mauritiusandlaterwillmovetoitsmaincampusin2015.Accordingly,asperMOU,itisagreeduponthatIITDelhishall:

(i) providetherequiredacademicleadershipnecessaryforsettinguptheIITRAMauritiuswithsimilarreputeasthatofIITDelhi;

(ii) helptosetuptheacademicprogramsatIITRAbasedonthesameacademicnormsaswellasrequirementsasatIITDelhi;

(iii) awardPh.DandMS(Research)degreesonsuccessfulcompletionofacademicprogrammesbyallstudentsregisteredwithIITDelhiatleasttill2018andprovideacademicguidanceforIITRAbecominganautonomousandawardgrantingbodywithintheframeworkofMauritiushighereducationalsystem.

IITRA Mauritius invites applications from qualified Mauritian Nationals, Persons of Mauritius Origin (PMOs), Overseas Citizens of Mauritius (OCMs) and citizen of other countries for the following positions in the various Clusters of Departments.

Candidates with Ph.D. but with less than 3 years experience can be considered for Assistant Professor on contract on pay as approved by the Steering Group.

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONANDEXPERIENCE:

PROFESSOR/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/ASSISTANT PROFESSOR: A Ph.D. with first class or equivalent grade at

precedingdegreeinanappropriatebranch/disciplinewithaverygoodacademicrecordthroughout.

PROFESSOR: Minimum10yearsTeaching/Research/Industrialexperienceofwhichat least4yearsshouldbeat

thelevelofAssociateProfessororatanequivalentlevelininstitutionsofrepute.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR: Minimum6 years Teaching/Research/Industrialexperienceofwhich at least3 years

shouldbeatthelevelofAssistantProfessororatanequivalentlevelininstitutionofrepute.

ASSISTANTPROFESSOR:Minimum3yearsteaching/research/industrialexperiencepostPhDfromreputed

institutions.

ASSISTANTPROFESSOR(contract):ForafreshPhD.,thepositionwillbeoncontractbasisforfirstthreeyears,

afterthecompletionofwhichcanberegularised.

2. AcumulativeProfessionalDevelopmentAllowanceofMUR.3,00,000foreveryblockperiodof3yearsis

available to everymemberof the faculty tomeet the expenses forparticipating inbothNational and

International Conferences, paying the membership fee of various professional bodies, books and

periodicalsandcontingentexpenses.

3. Thereareprovisionsofthefollowingaspertheprovisionsofthe2013PayResearchBureau(PRB)report

ofMauritianGovernment:

(i)Travelling/movingallowancetofaculty joiningthe Institutefromabroador fromelsewhere inMauritius,

(ii) loanwithdutyexemption for thepurchaseofcar, (iii)sabbatical leave,consultancy, freehealthservice,

healthinsurance,(iv)15%incometax,(v)gratuityetc.
