Character description: “Rook” is the rookie that has the potential to join the gang. In the beginning of the film the audience might picture him as the protagonist although as the film opening develops, a moment will foreshadow, revealing that he becomes the antagonist. When constructing this character, I draw inspiration from Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in the film “The Departed.”, showing a much more composed and calm character although finishing the movie on an intense note. During the scene with dialogue, he must be composed but show a small amount intensity. The audience will be able to empathize with this character the most as the story is from his point of view and the theme of “corruption” will develop on him from the beginning of the film, all the way till the end. Also having no full name creates mystery, instead he is called normally by his nickname “rook” and the audience does not receive a back story for this character unlike the others.

Character description: Charles “Chaplin” Trump is a character with very little words and the ideology of “actions speak louder than words” are presented through this character. The nickname “Chaplin” has been given to him due to his inability to speak similar to the concept of Charlie Chaplin who is famous for his silent films. This characters back story involves being in a fight at a young age and getting punched in the throat, inevitably injuring his voice box. I have chosen the flat cap as it is very popular in British and also relates to Charlie Chaplin being British. I have chosen the flat cap instead of a traditional bowler hat as it would seem more appropriate for a more modern take.

Character description: Perry “Peri” is an extremely wild character with very little disregard of sympathy. He is maniacal and rowdy although he takes pills to help calm him nerves down. The nickname “Peri” is a play on words referring to the hot sauce made from crushed chillies. This symbolizes the explosiveness and short temper of this character. Some say that his backstory involved his mother eating handfuls of chilli while being pregnant with him or the abusive behaviour of his father when he was a toddler. He is largely based on the character called “Bullet Tooth Tony” portrayed by Vinnie Jones in the movie “Snatch”. I have chosen the beanie as the hat is used on tough characters such as Eminem or Tyrese Gibson in “4 Brothers”.

Character description: Tiny Tyrone is a failed rapper that never made it to the hip hop industry. He is a very proud individual and knows the harsh reality of life, he is described as a hustler. The nickname “tiny” is used in irony as Tyrone is actually very tall. Inspiration for this nickname came from “Little John” from “Robin Hood” when constructing his character. His back story involves being brought up by an African-American community and being largely influenced by hip hop. Tyrone aspired to make it big and achieve the dream of being a world recognized rapper although his mix tapes were rejected when sent to large record labels. The snapback was the preferred choice as they are a popular trend in the hip hop industry. Artists such as NWA, Wu Tang Clan and many more.

NAME: MUSTAFA HESHAMCHARACTER NAME: LOUIS

“LIU KANG”HAT CHOICE: HEADBAND

Character description: Louis “Liu Kang” is a “wanna be Bruce Lee”. He idolizes Bruce Lee in terms of culture and style. Louis tries to duplicate the charisma and flair of Bruce Lee. His back story involves his parents being extremely busy with their jobs and since he was an only child, he grew up watching one channel that only played reruns of Bruce Lee movies. Their family saved on costs by not buying cable TV so that was the only channel available. Although later on, he started visiting the arcade, becoming addicted to video games and nickname “Liu Kang” comes from the Bruce Lee inspired character from the “Mortal Kombat” videogame series. I have chosen the headband as “Liu Kang” where’s this accessory throughout the videogame series.
