The location of ABC accelerator is its greatest ad-vantage. not only is it located in the middle of the perfect testing ground for startup companies - the whole country of Slovenia is an ideal first proving ground. Slovenia is the only country in South-East Europe that is a member of both EUro-zone and EU. It is strategically located on the crossroads between East and West Europe as well as between Central and South Europe. It is just small enough to be man-ageable, but also very diverse. ABC accelerator´s goal is to implement the accelera-tion program on our future generations, comprised of 8-10 startups. Within the first 3 months they will be focusing on education, coaching, and workshops. We will be engaging them with the most important, relevant contacts from their industry. We will be engaging them with the most important, relevant contacts from their industry and expose them to the investors.The idea is to push them from starting to starring, so the next 3 months they will be focusing on the expansion of the startup.
Launched on the 30th of March, current startups are taking part in the program that focuses on customized SmartCities activities. They work on hotel operation management, water and waste management, smart retail, food waste reduction, smart mobility, internet of things, smart advertising, and smart crowfunding.
our role is to help them them build a full business strategy in the specific sector and sharpen their skills throught intensive mentoring. The first phase of the program is concluded when teams attend the demo day, or the »d« day. The teams will pitch to a room full of angels, vCs, and industry representatives from Europe, Asia, and America. It is their final presentation, but the journey doesn´t end here. In the next three months we are dedicated to help them spread to other markets. At ABC Accelerator, we are scalling globaly, and we expect nothing less from our teams.

As our teams are expanding, we are already launching a new program on Smart Living & health that will begin on the 5th of october 2015. The ABC Accelerator team will work with the startups for the whole program period, working for the startups’ success just as hard as them. They will be available at any time and will help startups with their broad range of skills and experience.
Specific workshops on each technology field - for example weekly workshops on Smart Cities technologies in the first program. For the duration of the program, startups will have there main office in ABC Accelerator’s premises and will have unlimited access to the resources available at ABC – for example cloud computing services provided by IBM.

ABC will also host events organized by other institutions in the startup support ecosystem – for example Startup Café, a monthly early-morning meeting of different actors in the startup ecosystem. ABC is also present at events such as PODIM entrepreneurship conference and EXPO in Milan 2015.

After implementing 10 programs in 5 years and accelerating the growth of 100 startups, we will be actively developing the investment landscape in the region of South East Europe. After developing the ac-celeration platform in the form of ABC accelerator in Ljubljana, we will aim to expand it to other countries, both in the region and further (with China being of strategic interest). We will create a bridge between re-gional startups and foreign investors as well as fostering the creation of startups within the network of ABC-branded accelerators and hubs.
Finally, we will develop an investment platform that will allow inves-tors in all stages (pre-seed, seed, early-stage, A series, B series and potential Ipo) to invest into our companies and those associated with our acceleration platform.
With ABC accelerator, we will reach the highest level of startup entrepreneurship, and help startups & SMEs both in refining their business model, and get-ting them ready for investment. We will achieve this in the accelerator based on the following guidelines.
Intensive work by innovative teams, focusing on industry and technology spe-cific programs.

The iterative process of hypothesis valida-tion and feedback gathering directly from the testing environment that is BTC City in Ljubljana, Slovenia- the largest retail area in Slovenia with high-density of potential test clients for startups. whaT do we looK liKe ?
ChArACTErISTICS oF oUr phYSICAL hoTSpoTABC accelerator covers an area of almost 1000 square meters. It has open office spaces for its 8 accelerated companies as well as a lecture hall with projection screens, a video-conferencing room, a lounge and several meeting rooms, as well as offices for ABC staff, ICT support center, kitchen and the traditional utilities. Additionally, ABC accelerator also hosts the CEEd network premises (www.ceed-slovenia.org) that in-clude another lecture hall, office spaces and individual meeting rooms. If requested, some of the several meeting rooms can be converted to closed workspaces. All premises have both Wi-Fi and LAn network ca-pabilities with state-of-the-art technology assuring excellent connectiv-ity. over 7 kms of new LAn wiring has been installed in the accelerator to assure uninterrupted and rapid connectivity.
ABC accelerator can thus accelerate 10 projects with up to 50 employ-ees per program (it will implement two programs per year). In its lec-ture rooms, it can host events with up to 100 participants, but can also organize bigger events at the conference halls available in the vicinity of its premises. This gives an option to organize two events at the same time.

Additionally, ABC has developed a strategic partnership with IBM that has its regional headquarters in the vicinity of ABC. At IBM’s loca-tion, one of its 42 global Innovation Centers is operating. It offers a full list of technical resources including Cloud computing resources and infrastructure and Smarter Cities support (full list of technical resources is available at https://www-304.ibm.com/partnerworld/wps/servlet/Contenthandler/isv_com_tsp_iic_resources_tech ). In March 2015, IBM also opened a new IBM data Center in the same lo-cation specifically targeting cloud computing technologies. With the help of over 70 experts and computer servers based locally, it offers a unique access to startups to a cloud computing technology and resources. Both IBM Innovation Center and data Center are available to ABC Accelerator and its accelerated companies as a part of the strategic partnership agreement. They can be accessed either re-motely through virtual private network (vpn) service or personally at the IBM headquarters that are only a couple of hundred meters away.
In the vicinity of ABC accelerator, a pilot implementation of a 5G net-work is also being tested as a part of the EU’s horizon 2020 iCirrus research project.
