What do you think each color means?

• Today you will be put in groups and assigned a color. You are to come up with as many different meanings to this color as possible, listing as many objects as possible to back up your argument. Some colors may be easier than others, and some may be very difficult. It is up to you to decide what these colors mean to you as a group.

Mono color depictions

• Now that you’ve discussed your colors as a group, it is now up to you to create a drawing using only one color. Rather than using stick figures and simple drawings, you must have everything run together in detail. Draw detailed people, trees, dogs, whatever, but make sure there is background as well, just like the pictures you saw. ONLY ONE COLOR.

Difficult?

• This task was a bit on the difficult side. Why?• Do you think this relates to the Giver?• Can you imagine how frustrating it is for Jonas

to only see one color at a time when he begins his training?

• How would you describe color?• Do you think the meanings of colors have any

real meaning in our lives?
