Christ Moravian Church December 2019
FELLOWSHIP MESSENGER
From the Pastor’s Desk “December already! Lordy, I’ve got to get going.” You know we prepare for Christmas in two ways. First is the never-ending parade of STUFF; all kinds of STUFF. Makes you tired just thinking about it!
But Christmas STUFF can be divided into two sections:
(1) A commercial and social rig-a-ma-row that makes us tired. You know we make a list, buy, then entertain. That “Lord have mercy” prayer is not necessarily answered.
(2) But the second part of STUFF is neat. My Dad loved
Christmas. He set the tone for the traditions of our family:
a. Go cut down a tree on the farm of a church
member. b. Do two putzs (decorations under the tree). First
the Manger scene and then we kids would do our thing.
c. Baking. My Grandma baked and baked and baked. d. For the excitement of Christmas coming and then
Christmas Eve – candles and buns. e. Coming downstairs on Christmas morning. That’s
good STUFF!
The second part of preparing for Christmas is centered in how we wait for the Lord. He comes every year to you and me as that wondrous gift all wrapped up in baby clothes lying in a stable feeding trough. “How Silently, How Silently the Wondrous Gift is Given.”
My hope is we find it, even if it’s just for a moment or two….the overwhelming joy of “God With Us.”
Rev. Richard Spaugh, Interim Pastor

2020 UNITY PRAYER WATCH
The Moravian Church has experienced spiritual renewal and strength through a covenant of prayer. In 1727, the church in Herrnhut, Germany covenanted for an “hourly intercession: which continued for 100 years with great blessing to the entire Moravian Church. As we prepare for observing the prayer watch across our province, please consider opportunities for members and friends to pray at home or coming to the church to pray during the assigned period of prayer.
Christ Church has been assigned the date of Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 4 PM to Midnight as our local observance.
A complete list of 2020 Unity Prayer Watch Topics will be on the counter outside the sanctuary.
