8 simple Steps to

Creating a

Great Presentation

Minarets-O’Neals, California

1. Keep it Simple.

1. You are the expert on what you are

presenting. Deliver your topic with

confidence and effectiveness

by only focusing on what you want

your audience to know. Remember,

people lose interest quickly so keep

it simple and to the point.

2. Limit your bullet

points.

2. Bullet points are only intended

to summarize what you are saying.

Otherwise you could just write a

paper. Only use your most important

points and memorize the rest. do not

fill you slide with text.

3. Pictures are powerful

if used correctly.

3. A picture should say it all. In theory,

you should be able to present with just

pictures if you use them correctly.

They are not space fillers. Just like your

bullet points, they are meant to reinforce

your statements. Make sure they are high

quality and interesting.

4. Have a theme.

4. There is nothing worse that an inconsistent

slide design during a presentation. It is

distracting and confusing. Pick a theme so that

your audience understands the flow of

the presentation. This includes font, color, picture

placement, headings, and text location.

5. Use simple charts

to reinforce your

statements.

5. If you really want to use statistics and data

effectively, create a simple chart. People have

a hard time listening to data without seeing

a visual representation. This will ensure

that your audience is focusing on your

point rather than the numbers.

6. Choose fonts, size

and color wisely.

6. Your text has to stand out so the audience

can see it. Your font has to look professional

and your colors should match your theme.

The font and color have to be appropriate for

your topic. Never use the default text. People

will know you are an amateur.

7. Design the presentation

with your audience in mind.

7. Always design with the audience in mind. This

is the first step in a successful presentation.

There is a huge difference between presenting

to familiar friends versus skeptical strangers.

8. Establish your style!

8. Your presentation had to be you! Figure out

your style because it will

make you more successful being you!
