For nearly forty years, Vendome Press has co-published or distributed
its distinguished list of art and illustrated books through an association
with Thames & Hudson. Many of Vendome’s titles on European palaces
and great country houses were developed by Vendome’s founder, Alexis
Gregory, via a friendly partnership with Walter, Eva, and Thomas Neurath.
In 2004, Mark Magowan joined Vendome Press and helped broaden its
editorial programme to include architecture and interior design.
Following the 2015 retirement of Mr. Gregory, Vendome affiliated itself
with Beatrice Vincenzini and Francesco Venturi of Scriptum Editions,
a long-standing distribution partner of Thames & Hudson. Recognizing
the growing international market for quality English-language publishing
and thereby deciding to substantially increase the editorial programme
over the next few years, the partners have decided to concentrate their
efforts on the expansion of the Vendome Press imprint. Consequently,
all forthcoming titles will be published under the Vendome name,
whether developed in London or in New York. What will never change,
however, is Vendome’s dedication to publishing the work of new authors,
designers, and artists, all while maintaining its tradition of editorial,
design, and production excellence that has characterized its list since its
inception in 1980.
In this, our first combined catalogue, we are delighted to present the next
title in the hugely popular Ladurée series, Ladurée Teatime, plus our first
book with world-renowned interiors photographer Miguel Flores-Vianna,
Haute Bohemians. We are also pleased to unveil David Hicks: Scrapbooks
– Ashley Hicks' personal selection from his iconic father's unique archive.

Iconic designer David Hicks (1929–1998) wowed the decorating world with his bold geometric prints, electrifying colour combinations, and quirky mix of antique and contemporary furniture. Thanks to his pro-digious talents, his gift for publicity, and his connection to the royal family through his wife, Lady Pamela Mountbatten, Hicks attracted an A-list clientele. For decades, Hicks documented every salient moment of his life in scrapbooks, amassing 24 volumes filled with press clippings, invitations, swatches of his signature textiles, sketches of interiors, magazine articles on his projects, and hundreds of photographs, mainly family snapshots, but also his own photos of people like Jackie Kennedy, Grace Kelly, and Andy Warhol.
Many of the pages, now thumbed and foxed, are laid out in a collage style, and several are embellished with drawings and notes, revealing Hicks’ thoughts and sense of whimsy. Here, his son, Ashley Hicks, has chosen more than 325 of the best pages – providing not just a window into the extraordinary world of David Hicks but also a fascinating time capsule.
Ashley Hicks, an architect and interior designer, is the author of two books on his
father. Since 2003 he has produced a line of fabrics, carpets, and wallpaper called
David Hicks by Ashley Hicks.

Who, exactly, is a haute bohemian? Leave it to the discriminating eye of photographer Miguel Flores-Vianna, who enjoys an international, cult-like following. He has journeyed through four continents to cap-ture an extraordinary group of fashion designers, landscape architects, artists and art historians, potters, and interior designers, wherever they live – in country cottages, beach bungalows, canal-side lofts, and East Village apartments, as well as assorted estancias, chateaux, and palazzi. Some spaces are grand, others are modest, but all are origi-nal, stylish, charming, and above all authentic, in the sense that they reflect their owners’ cares and tastes. As the readers of his column in Architectural Digest know, Flores-Vianna is as gifted a writer as he is an observant photographer.

What are New York’s best apartment buildings? Before 1900, the Dakota and the Osborne; soon after came McKim, Mead & White’s 998 Fifth, and the ultra-soigné 820 Fifth Avenue. The Roaring Twenties produced true luxury: 740 Park Avenue, the Art Deco–inspired River House, and Rosario Candela’s extraordinary 778 and 720 Park Avenue. Today, the city’s skyline sparkles with palatial new buildings, such as Robert A. M. Stern’s 15 Central Park West, Richard Meier’s glass-walled Perry Street towers, and 432 Park Avenue, New York’s tallest residential building.
Kirk Henckels and Anne Walker, real estate and architectural insiders, chronicle the fortunes and features of fifteen outstanding apartment buildings, with a wealth of vintage and new photography and architectural plans, and show off select apartments as they look today, designed by top interior designers.
Kirk Henckels is the Vice Chairman of Stribling & Associates, the distinguished
residential brokerage, and author of the authoritative Stribling Report, devoted
to New York residential real estate trends. Anne Walker is the co-author (with
Peter Pennoyer) of five architectural monographs. Michel Arnaud books include

This lavishly illustrated volume explores the interior world of Paolo Moschino and Philip Vergeylen, the talented duo behind the award-winning design studio Paolo Moschino for Nicholas Haslam Limited. Acknowledged by Architectural Digest as one of the top 100 design-ers in the world, Moschino and Vergeylen not only create inspiring home environments for elite clients, but also design their own line of furniture, lighting, fabrics and accessories. The process by which their varied sources of inspiration translate into material form is explored in detail in Signature Spaces. The book takes you on a visual journey through Paolo and Philip’s world. Illustrated with hundreds of stunning photographs and drawings, the book reveals projects from all over the world, together with people, places, art and artists that continue to be a source of inspiration for them on their continuous search for beauty.
Paolo, Italian born, studied political science in Florence, came to London for a
few months aged 23, ended up running an interiors shop – which he subsequently
bought – and never left. Philip, Belgian born, always says his parents gave him
three choices of profession: doctor, banker or lawyer. He chose ‘banker’ – but,
after a high-powered career in financial services, he met Paolo, agreed to help
with some interior design projects and, 20 years on, they are still together.
Min Hogg was founding editor of The World of Interiors magazine.

With its pastel green and yellow interior, its dazzling collection of Impressionist paintings, and long, low sofas that look like vintage Cadillac convertibles, Sunnylands was a Versailles for the space age.In Palm Springs, the mecca of mid-century modern architecture, this immaculately preserved estate is considered an undisputed master-piece of the style, the vision of A. Quincy Jones, one of California’s most important architects; and the only completely preserved interior by California’s great decorator-to-the-stars, William Haines. Built by Walter Annenberg, former US Ambassador to the UK, and his wife Leonore, Sunnylands became a seat of power, where politicians, movie stars, and corporate leaders could meet, relax, reflect, make deals, and run the world – all with nobody watching. For four decades an invitation to New Year’s at Sunnylands was the ultimate social prize. Exquisitely illustrated, is a must-have for all fans of mid-century design.
Janice Lyle, the Director of Sunnylands Center & Gardens, has been at the estate
since 2008. Michael S. Smith is an American interior designer responsible for the
2010 makeover of the Oval Office and furnished the private living quarters for
President and Mrs. Obama. Mark Davidson photographs for the Smithsonian,

A state dinner at the White House, the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala, once-in-a-lifetime birthday and wedding cel-ebrations – every lucky guest knows that there is no party like a Monn party. Using scent, sound, sight, touch, and taste Monn designs events to be ’shared, lived, and felt‘ by everyone there. David‘s three favourite words – authenticity, scale, and detail – inform every chapter of his book, following him from classic New York nights to events around the world and back again to the most private rites of passage. How to do this yourself? It means considering your home as not just rooms, but instead as ’a living environment‘, and not thinking of a birthday as a party, but rather ’a milestone of accomplishment and growth‘.
In this volume Monn introduces us to the people and places that have inspired him and taught him ’to see‘; he draws from his personal archive of 20,000 event photographs to show us how he puts his ideas to work.
David Monn was born in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania. He worked as an interior
designer and in the fine jewellery industry before launching his event-planning
company. His clients include the great and the good from around the world,
as well as a Who’s Who of brands and institutions. Susan Fales-Hill is a novelist
and contributor to major magazines. Bill Cunningham is the New York Times‘
legendary fashion and social photographer.

Nestled amid the lush, gently rolling hills of cattle and horse farms in Millbrook, New York, is a handsome Greek Revival house that looks like it’s always been there. In fact, it is brand new – the collaborative effort of architect Peter Pennoyer and his wife, interior designer Katie Ridder. In this irresistible book, exquisitely illustrated with specially commissioned photographs, finely rendered plans and hand-painted illustrations tells the home‘s story of the conception, design, decoration, and landscap-ing of their dream house. The design of the house followed Pennoyer’s conviction that historical examples are a springboard for the imagination and offer compelling solutions for new architecture. So, though many characteristics of the house are classical and more specifically Greek Revival, it is also thoroughly contemporary and environmentally friendly, with an exuberantly colourful interior and spectacular garden.
Peter Pennoyer’s eponymous architecture firm is widely published and
recognized for its imaginative and elegant designs, as well as restoration
projects. Katie Ridder has been included the Top 100 lists of designers by
House Beautiful, Elle Décor and New York Magazine. Her company produces
fabrics and wallpapers. Anne Walker collaborated with Peter Pennoyer on
four monographs on the history of twentieth-century American architecture.
Photographer Eric Piesecki contributes to, among other, Elle Decor and AD.

Playfully rejecting the orderly restraint of mid-century design, the French avant-garde designer Pierre Paulin (1927–2009) imagined sleek departure lounges for the jet set, perfume bottles for Courrèges, and unforgettable Pop-era pieces like the Orange Slice chair, the shell-shaped Oyster chair and the Tongue, a wavy, low-slung chaise longue. Paulin’s signature innovation was to clothe his pieces in colourful stretch fabrics, softening them and concealing their inner steel and wood. A modernist, traditionalist and perfectionist, he took equal care designing everyday objects such as fans, razors and fondue pots as he did outfitting the private elysée quarters of French presidents Pompidou and Mitterand. Ever passionate about the new technologies and inventions that made modernity possible, and deeply sensitive to contemporary colours, shapes and materials, he never ceased to astonish with unexpected and dazzling leaps of imagination.
From the 1950s onwards, Paulin – A solitary figure of great natural reserve – has inspired generations of designers. This book is the first definitive account of his life and work.

Since forming their practice in 1999, Will Meyer and Gray Davis have designed some 200 private and public spaces that epitomize hip luxury style. Their interiors are as dazzling and dramatic as they are comfort-able and welcoming – a carefully calibrated balancing act that has become their trademark and won them a loyal clientele. As furniture designer David Netto says in his foreword, ’Their style – while original – seems inevitable, and after you see a project by Meyer Davis Studio you say to yourself, “Why didn’t I think of that?”‘. Made to Measure tells the story of their ascent into the upper echelon of American design and shares their firm’s philosophy and process.
Illustrated with hundreds of stunning photographs, plans, and drawings, the book explores the symbiosis between their residential and commercial projects and shows how Meyer Davis Studio has redefined modern luxury.
Before founding Meyer Davis Studio, Will Meyer worked for architect Charles
Gwathmey, and Gray Davis worked for designers John Saladino and Thomas
O’Brien. Dan Shaw is founding editor of The New York Times Style section.
Interior designer and writer David Netto is a contributing editor to The New
York Times Style Magazine, T.

Palm Beach interiors have long reflected the travels, penchants, and whimsies of the town’s worldly inhabitants. But as real estate on this tiny barrier island becomes increasingly valuable, residents are calling upon world-class designers to help fine-tune their visions, giving rise to a fresh tropical design vernacular. These homes aren’t slavish copies of interior design magazines or decorators’ dictates but testaments to what can be achieved when inspired by the natural beauty of a unique locale and when imagination is one’s only limitation.
Tropical Chic captures the enduring charm of newly restored sea-side fantasies by Mizner, Fatio, and Volk, celebrated for their Cuban coquina courtyards and soaring miradors overlooking tiled pools and arching fountains. Jennifer Ash Rudick, a long-time Palm Beach resident, leads an insider’s tour of twenty-five houses, cottages, Moorish casbahs, artists’ compounds, and Mad Men–era vintage condos. It is this eclec-tic mix of old and new, of Spanish and Caribbean, of contemporary design and sun-faded WASP thrift, that makes Palm Beach chic.
Jennifer Ash Rudick is an author and editor, she is the author of Tropical Style:
Private Palm Beach, and a contributing editor to Veranda magazine. Jessica Klewicki Glynn is an award-winning photographer specializing in interior design.
