5.5 point slope and standard form

How to find and equation for a line using 2 points Also you can graph a line using a T-chart. 1. Put equation in y = mx + b form (what is that called?)2. Make a T-chart3. So now you have a choice BUT you need to know both methods becasue I will test you on both. A) Graph an equation using slope and y intrecpet. B) Graph equation using T-Chart

5.5 Standard and Point slope forms pg. 252 to 257 The Slope intercept form is the BEST way to graph a line HOWEVER: Equations are not always given in that form!

Now you will have to learn how to manipulate equations to PUT them into slope intercept form! You already know this!

STANDARD FORM: Your goal is to simply put an equation into this form by moving things across equal signs! ALL you have to do is have the equation in that order!

POINT-SLOPE FORM: Again all you are doing is writing the existing equation in this form. Just make sure that it is in order. m= slope, (x1 and y1) are points (DO NOT simplify unless you are asked to convert to slope intercept form)

Make sure to READ the directions! Make sure to KNOW the different forms! Write equation into Standard and Slope intercept

What happens if they ONLY give you 2 points? Find SLOPE first. Then Write in Point slope form.
