One a cold January day in 2014, an economic developer gave a lucky few of us at the IFMA Foundation a dream…
What if we could bring the excitement of an FM career to every level of the educational system… to plant the idea of one day becoming a Facility Manager as aspirational as being a doctor, lawyer or, heaven help us, an accountant…
because the truth of the matter is, none of those professions could operate without…
Zenobia Barlow, “Confluence of Streams”
"Children are born with a sense of wonder and an affinity for Nature. Properly cultivated, these values can mature into ecological literacy, and eventually into sustainable patterns of living."
And so high school students (1000) came to Chaffey College on a Friday in October ….
Previous to this…On the beach one sunny afternoon in SoCal, Diane Coles-Levine and Tony Soriano figured it
out as they watched the Surf Riders and the mermaids clean up the beach…it was all about saving the
environment that young people cared about…plus…
Describing a career in FM that brought with it BIG SALARIES…
“Are youkiddin’ me?”
“Nope, $81,000/year with 2 year FM Degree”

“One last insight from our friends at Harvard: Building SKILLS ECOSYSTEMS takes time. Their studyestimates the need for 3-5 years of STEADY FUNDING. We’re in it for the long term, with our programs, and
with our 5 year commitment to GWI…I would like to encourage everyone in the industry to join us in supporting this collaborative effort through sponsorship of the GWI..

What is Appreciative Inquiry?
It is the discovery for the best in people,
their organizations, and the relevant world
around them.
It is an art and practice of asking
unconditional positive questions that
strengthen a system’s capacity to anticipate
and heighten positive potential.
What does Appreciative Inquiry do?
Appreciative Inquiry links
the energy of an organization’s
POSITIVE CORE
directly to any change agenda,
and changes never thought possible
are democratically mobilized.
