Tuberculosis (TB) is more prevalent among men (72%) than women (28%). There are similar quantity of TB cases among children under age of 14. Beginning at the age of 15, the share of men with TBC drastically grows. Men seek medical treatment at the later stage of TBC than women, and interrupt the treatment, which increases the treatment duration and costs. Gender Budgeting in Ukraine
The “Gender Budgeting in Ukraine” Project is implemented for the purpose of supporting the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine in the introduction of gender budgeting (GRB) in Ukraine and funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida).
The general approach of the Project is based on the best international practices and envisages testing of GRB activities at the level of pilot ministries and oblasts, as well as making the required amendments in budget documents.
Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) is a tool that aims at integrating gender perspectives in the budgeting process. It should be viewed as an important element of development of budgets of different levels, which provides comprehensive information to specialists making decisions about allocation of budget funds.
Stage 1. Initial work on the GRB implementation in pilot ministries and oblasts
Gender analysis of selected budget programs of pilot line ministries and oblasts
Capacity building for pilot line ministries, oblasts and Ministry of Finance in GRB
Stage 4. GRB introduced in Ukraine
Integration of gender perspective in the legislation that regulates budget relations in Ukraine.
Stage 2. Introduction and testing of pilot GRB work results
Inclusion of the gender perspective into relevant documents of pilot ministries and oblasts based on the selected budget programs gender analysis findings
Rolling-out of the pilot work to the wider number of pilots
Elaboration of methodological recommendations to introduce GRB at the State level
Stage 3. Establishment of gender responsive aspects in the budget process at the State and Oblasts level
Development and implementation of proposals for the improvement of sectoral normative acts
