Message from the Principal
Season’s greetings! Christ’s message, “It is more blessed to give than to receive,” has been taken to heart by our students and their families. Your very generous response to such things our school’s own “Christmas Giving Tree” will brighten the season for some of our own students and their families. “Prayer and Share Day” not only brings our school community together to give thanks for all of our blessings, but also allows us to share with those in need at Equinox and the Albany City Mission. Both of those charities are very grateful for our school’s support. Your over-whelming response to our “Coats for Kids” drive will keep literally hundreds of children warm this winter. Your coats come at a time when the participating cleaners tell me that they have very few coats left to give. It has been a Godsend for those children in need. Your tremendous response to our “Lids for Lucas” hat day has provided Lucas the opportunity to stand upright and begin to take his first steps while at school and now at home. The Baker family remains eternally grateful for that gift. As Christmas nears, our students will joyfully sing about the gift of Jesus Christ at our Christmas concerts. We hope to see you there. As importantly, we will continue to celebrate His daily pres-ence in our lives and serve those around us long after the last Christmas tree is taken down. On behalf of Father Walsh and our faculty and staff, I wish you all a very blessed and merry Christmas, and a happy and healthy New Year. Yours in Christ,
Dennis Mullahy Principal

“Lids for Lucus”
Mrs. Baker thanks two eighth graders for contributing to
the fundraiser for her son Lucus. Parents, students and
teachers contributed over $9,000 to help the Bakers pur-
chase a $3,000 gait pacer trainer as well as a $4,000 spe-

Pierie-Louis Joizil from Haiti talks to the students about a
school day without electricity! The students all realized how
blessed we all are here at St Pius X school.
Congratulations to Matthew Bonanni, Philip Adikes
and Ramzy Hajnasr who were inducted into the
Brother Arnold Chapter of the National Honor So-
ciety of La Salle Institute on November 20th, 2013
at the Franklin Terrace Ballroom in Troy, NY. The
La Salle cadets are 2011 graduates of St. Pius X
School.
Eighth graders teamed up with St Pius X Pas-
toral Care and helped five families who were in
need of fall cleanup. Thank you students for
your help!
Mr. Sullivan’s 5W
class and Mrs.
Bick’s Pre-K 5
class made cards
for veterans at the
VA hospital.
Thank you stu-
dents.
Mrs. Auclaire’s 2-3 class welcomed
some slithery friends on Fun Fri-
day. Alec Lobdell’s Mom had Rep-
tile Adventure pay a visit. The stu-
dents were very brave and allowed
their new friends to creep and
crawl on them! Even Mrs. Auclaire
agreed to a snake around her neck!
Mrs. Jones’s 1-W class votes on
their favorite storybook characters
on election day. Skippy John Jones
won!
1-W also voted on what shapes to
use to carve their Jack O Lantern for
Halloween. First grade is learning
about democracy first hand!
Free Dress Days: A reminder
that all free dress days from the candy sale have to be redeemed by December 19th. Thank You!

Meatloaves Wanted !
Sacred Heart Food Pantry Needs Our Help
As you might already know, our school conducts
two food drives during the year for the Sacred
Heart Food Pantry in North Albany, just miles
from our school.
We are in need of volunteers to make a meatloaf
just once a month to provide a special meal each
week for those families who rely on the food pan-
try.
Sister Sarah tells us her people love St.Pius X
meatloaves. Some have even requested our school
meatloaves instead of turkey for their Thanksgiv-
ing meal.
Please consider joining us in feeding those less
fortunate. Meatloaves, fresh or frozen, may be
dropped off at the school.

Student of the Week”, Emily Burgess, asked her aunt to come
and speak to Mrs. Subick’s 5th grade class for career day. Jean

RoboMe robot for the classroom.
