Instructions to ProgramParticipants
Session Time Allocations: Eachpresenter will have total of 30minutes and they should take nomore than 20 minutes forpresentation. Each Discussantshould take no more than 5minutes. The remaining timeshould be devoted to opendiscussion.
Session Chairs: Assume overallresponsibility for your session.Make an effort to contact thesession participants before themeeting. Inform them that eachpresentation room will beequipped with an LCD overheadprojector and computer. Ask themif they have any special needsrelating to their presentation and/or discussion and, incollaboration with the registrationdesk, try to satisfy those needs.Arrive at the session room 10minutes in advance and makesure that it is properly equipped.Welcome and introduce theparticipants. Start the session ontime and adhere to the timeschedule. Discussants shouldfollow presenters. Moderate theopen discussion to the best ofyour ability.
Presenters: Stay within the allottedtime even though it may not beenough! Be well prepared. Pleasedo not just read your paper. Yourpresentation of main points,methods, and conclusionsshould lead to a fruitfuldiscussion during and after thesession. Bring with you and makeavailable several copies of yourmanuscript. All rooms will haveLCD projectors.
Discussants: Be prepared to offeryour “positive” remarks first.Then offer any “negative” remarksin a constructive way. Staywithin the allotted time. If youcannot meet your commitment,please make an effort to find asubstitute discussant, and contactthe registration desk as well as thesession chair immediately.
