The Executive Board of Boise Junior College is the legislative branch of that body. In its
capable hands are placed the many student body problems. Meetings are held every Mon
day evening with Eleanor Burns presid
ing. Among its duties are the allotting
of the student body fund, the appoint
ing of the editor of the school annual,
and the choosing of yell leaders and
activities managers. Generally speak
ing, it is the duty of this body to
approve all student activities of the
Boise Junior College.

TRIBUNAL Just as every self-governing body must have its judiciary, so the Associated Student Body of Boise Junior College has its Tribunal. The offices are elective, and the members are sophomores who are chosen at the same time as the student body officers. This body is brought into action when the Executive Board brings charges and acts as prosecutor before it. All misdemeanors of fellow students are justly treated. Members of the Tribunal this year included Max Bell, Virginia Leach, and Ernest Day. Norman B. Adkison was faculty advisor.
Rosenheim Coleman, Armstrong, Calhoon, Jones Barker, Rosenheim, Archibald
SOCIAL COMMITTEE The Social Committee of Boise Junior College arranges all social events of the student body, supervises them, and sees that they function properly. The reins of the committee this year were in the capable hands of Margaret Rosenheim. Students serving on her committee were: Kenneth Coleman, June Barker, James Armstrong, Helen Marr Archibald, Stanley McCorkle, and Donald Calhoon. Mrs. Camille B. Power, Dean of Women, acted as faculty advisor. The outstanding events supervised by this committee were the spring formal and the annual barbecue.

CADET TEACHERS
"We strive for quality, not numbers", states
Norman B. Adkison, head of the Depart
ment of Education and Psychology. "The
Boise Junior College offers a two-year
course in the training of elementary teach
ers, under the school laws of Idaho and the
approval of the State Board of Education.
Upon completion of the required course,
graduates of this department receive State
Elementary Certificates and the title of
Associate in Education."
Teachers in this course have for their train
ing school the unexcelled opportunities
afforded by the Boise School system and
here, under normal conditions, with the best
supervision, these cadet teachers combine
theory with practice. The kind cooperation
of Superintendent W. D. Vincent and Ele
mentary Supervisor Laura Brenn, and the
highly qualified teachers of the Boise system
make this ideal condition possible. Bums, Seibel, Horslev, Adkison
Uranga, Barber, Day
Willits, Simpson, Drake
Even though this department has been in
operation only a few years its graduates are
holding the most responsible positions in the elementary schools of the state. They are being
advanced and promoted and are assuming positions of leadership that indicate good background
and high training standards. The Boise Junior College demands better training in English, the
social sciences, and child psychology, and the results are very satisfactory.
"It is my earnest desire and conviction that the Boise Junior College will not add any teachers
to the profession who are not superior in character, knowledge, the understanding of children,
and in actual teacher practice", says Adkison.

The Associated Women is an organization composed of every duly enrolled Co-ed at B. J.C. Nellie Standish was elected to preside over meetings held every other Wednesday. Her fellow officers were: Dorothy Blair, vice president; Marie Kalbus, secretary; Carol Thompson, treasurer; Emma Jane Heisner, social chairman; and Cleone Thomas, athletic chairman. The faculty advisors were Camille B. Power and Lucile N. Robertson. Among the activities sponsored by the organization were the confectionery store, under the management of six different groups so arranged to include all girls, the sale of pom-poms at football and basketball games, and the maintenance of order in the women's lounge. The annual formal dance was one with a charming valentine theme.

B-CUBES Every freshman girl upon enrolling in the college becomes a member of the
B-Cube organization. The club was very active this year, sponsoring a mixer
with a Hallowe'en theme, holding two card parties to raise money for the
successful football banquet which was under the chairmanship of Lynn Kelley,
and furnishing and decorating a formerly unused room for the sole benefit
of the members of the organization. Officers for the year were: Miriam
Vernon, president; Marion Shaul, vice president; and Verna Mae Dunning,
secretary-treasurer. Miss Rosamond Salisbury was the faculty advisor.

Who are the girls in the bright blue sweaters? Why, naturally, the Valkyries of Boise Junior College. They are seen at all athletic matches, serving on various committees, selling candy at football and basketball games, and generally taking part in all school activities. This organization, which is a service group, is composed of eight sophomores and seven freshmen. New members are admitted yearly by election. The first semester officers were: Margaret Stanton, president; Virginia Leach, vice president and treasurer; and Dortha Power, secretary. The second semester officers were: Dortha Power, president; Lidia Uranga, vice president and treasurer; lone Nordquist, secretary. Mrs. Ada Y. Hatch was faculty advisor. This year the Valkyries gave two half-year scholarships of $50 each. Edna Ourada and Virginia Stewart were the recipients.

The B. J.C. Club of Boise Junior College is composed of all the varsity lettermen, with the sports managers as honorary members. The club officers were: Doyle Baird, president; Donald Calhoon, vice president; Hadley Olson, secretary; and John Pease, treasurer. This year the organization was exceptionally active. It sponsored the football dance in December, the B. J.C. Club post-exam jubilee in January, and in April a silver tea for the women of the city. The annual picnic for the club members and their dates was held May 1 1. Each year the club bestows upon one of the sophomore girls the honor of being chosen its Campus Queen. As this book goes to press, however, the girls are still in a state of suppressed excitement, as the selection for the year has not been made.

ASSOCIATED ENGINEERS This organization is composed of those scientific-minded students
who spend most of their time in the annex and in the basement
of B. J. C. buried under piles of old scratch paper, laboratory equip
ment, and chemicals. During Homecoming the Associated Engi
neers put on a very impressive electrical display, demonstrating
the Telsa Cell and the Photo Electric Cell. The Engineers took two
field trips of note this year. The first trip was to the Idaho Power
substation and the second to the telephone office. These field trips
afford the budding engineer a chance to view what is going on in
the engineering world and help him to orient himself within the
field of engineering. The officers were: Calvin Madson, president;
Roche Bush, vice president; and Elizabeth Buck, secretary-treas
urer. Douglas B. Cruikshank was faculty advisor.

FORENSIC CLUB The Forensic Club was a new but active organization this year in B.J. C. Early in the first semester the club started off its activities by electing Willard Aston, president; Arthur Mink, vice president; Merle Wells, secretary-treasurer; Eleanor Ray, librarian; and Bill Faught, business manager. The club sponsored two all-school assemblies this year and a straw vote on the state election. The district high school debate festival was held at the college under the auspices of the club. Also among the activities sponsored by the club was the presentation of three one-act plays. These plays were: "The Boor", "It Took a Woman", and "Goodnight, Please", a semi-dramatic, a mystery, and a comedy production, respectively. The cast of "The Boor" included Willard Aston, Phylis McQueen, and John Faught. Virgil Olson, Herschel K earns, Elizabeth Buck, Roy Mac Gee, and Bob Smidt were in "It Took a Woman". "Goodnight, Please" was performed by Arthur Mink, Dwayne Moulten, Eleanor Ray, Kenneth Alpert, Miriam Vernon, Don MacLeod, and Dolly Bates. The production cast of the plays was under the chairmanship of Arthur Mink. Bill Faught acted as general manager, with Rich Bakes, stage manager; Mary Perkins, publicity chairman; Dorothy Daniels, in charge of the props, and Eleanor Ray, chairman of the tickets and sales committee.

DEBATE AND DECLAMATION B.J.C. had an unusually successful season in both debate and declamation
this year. In the Idaho-Oregon Speech Festival held at Caldwell the debate
team placed well up in the ranking, and the declamation team won top honors
in its section with Willard Aston being high point man for the meet. Among
the schools with which B.J.C. competed were: The College of Idaho, North
west Nazarene Academy, Ricks College, and the University of Idaho, Southern
Branch. Gene Frazier, Merle Wells, Arthur Mink, Eleanor Ray, William
Faught, and Willard Aston composed the team debating the question,
Resolved: That the government should cease to use the public funds for the
purpose of stimulating business. The winning declamation team was com
posed of Willard Aston and Arthur Mink in the oratory division, Bill Wood
and Arthur Mink in the extemporaneous division, Eleanor Ray in the poetry
contest, and Willard Aston in both the humorous and dramatic reading
divisions. Tracy Coker served as coach for both teams, as did Bill Faught in
the capacity of business manager. At the Idaho - Utah - California Speech
Festival at Cedar City, Utah, Willard Aston placed first in the oratorical
division in the preliminaries and gained a high ranking in the finals.

ROUNDUP This year the Boise Junior College issued the largest newspaper in its history.
The printing space was more than doubled. The paper was a project handled
entirely by the journalism class. Since it was financed wholly by advertise
ments, issues did not appear as often as was desired. Editors during the year
were Mary Perkins, Wayne Clark and Rich Bakes, Bettina Kroeger and Bob
Smidt. The staff included: Helen Kitchen, William Faught, Virgil Olson,
Lynn Kelley, Alfred Russell, Paul Bethel, Wayne Clark, Carl Hill, Donald
Stephens, George Whitmore, Hadley Olson, Ernest Day, and William Ander
son. Special mention must be accorded to Ernest Day and William Anderson,
business managers. Mr. Norman B. Adkison was faculty advisor.

LANGUAGE PLAYS The language plays of B.J.C. were presented in a new form
this year. The seventh annual Romance Language Night was
carried on by the production of the French play, Les Roman
esques by Rostand, and the presentation of the Spanish play,
La Careta Verde by Miguel Ramos Carrion. Both plays were
under the direction of Camille B. Power. The cast of Les
Romanesques was composed of Miriam Vernon, Vivian Crouch,
Arthur Mink, Herbert Chaffee, and Gene Frazier. La Careta
Verde was played by Verna Mae Dunning, George Claycomb,
Dorothy Daniels, Lawrence Wicklund, John Faught, James
Armstrong, Orie Dudley, and Russell Johnson. The production
staff served for both plays. It was composed of Clinton Nord-
quist and Buehl Hewett, stage managers; lone Nordquist,
Patricia Podoll, and Elise Smith, property managers; Wayne
Clark, Jay Collins, and Barbara Brim, in charge of publicity;
Eleanor Ray, Patricia Podoll, and Jeanne Evans, in charge of
costumes, while Jeanne Evans acted as Make-up Chairman.
Barbara Brim and Jacquelyn Mitchell served as ushers.
The two German plays were presented this year under the
direction of Dr. McFarland. The play Der Gute Diener was
acted by Dwayne Moulten, Fritz Sandner, Carmileta Leonard-
son, Margaret Stanton, Calvin Madson, June Barker, and
Charles Davis. The cast of Die Feme Princessen was composed
of Max Bell, Bettina Kroeger, Helen Kitchen, Carmileta Leon-

MUSIC An outstanding music organization was formed at Boise
Junior College this year under the capable direction of
James L. Strachan. This was the A Capella Choir of thirty-
one voices. Soon after its organization, its distinctive robes
were made, and the choir made its first appearance at a
candlelight service at St. Michael's Cathedral during the
Christmas season. The next objective of the group was to
prepare for a spring concert tour which extended as far
west as Pendleton, Oregon. Several performances were
given en route. Previously the choir had made trips to
Caldwell and Emmett. William Rogers was elected presi
dent of the group. He was also appointed by the Executive
Board as manager in charge of the trip. The choir climaxed
a successful season with an appearance at graduation cere
monies June 3.

MUSIC The girls' trio was comprised of Helen Bullock, Virginia Leach, and Mary Roberts. The girls made many and varied performances. Mrs. Lucille T. Forter acted as their director.
The string ensemble is another musical organization of which B.J.C. can be proud. Rosamond Salisbury was the able director of the group whose musical scores were arranged by Clinton Nordquist and Loren Bush.
The girls' ensemble was organized under the capable direction of Lucille T. Forter. They sang sacred music at the candlelight service and secular music during various other performances throughout the year.
An organization of fellows who enjoy singing is a group of which any school can be proud. The credit for B.J.C.'s organization of this type goes to Lucille T. Forter.

FOOTBALL The B. J. C. squad proved to be a scrappy football team
this year, even though they were small as compared
to their opponents. The chances for a football team
looke dslim at the beginning of the year. Stephens,
Baird, Goulding, Bush, and Pease were the only vet
erans to return. As the season got under way, Coach
Jacoby soon showed himself master of a disheartening
situation and chose from the freshman recruits the remainder of the team.
Coach Jacoby was new to the Junior College and soon proved to be an asset.
The first trip taken by the squad was to La Grande, Oregon. The second was
to Albion, and the third to Pocatello to play the University of Idaho, Southern

Branch. The Broncs were handed defeat on all three
occasions, but this did not curb their fighting spirit.
When they finally played a home game, they fought
a tough U. of I. frosh squad to a standstill for three
quarters and then lost in the fourth by six points. The
next games were thrillers with B. J.C. coming out on
the long end of the score both times. The first triumph
was the Ricks College game which was also the Homecoming game. The
second victory was the Mesa Junior College game. Don Stephens and
Lawrence Wicklund were chosen Captain and Co-captain at the annual foot
ball banquet and dance at the Owyhee Hotel.

BASKETBALL In his first year as athletic coach and physical education instructor at the Boise Junior College, Harry Jacoby led the Broncs to their first championship in the Boise City Basketball League. As a result of this victory the College proudly displays its first athletic trophy. This trophy was won through a record of eleven games won and only one lost. The City League was composed of B. B. U., Emmett, Baird's Cleaners, Eagle, Boise Payette Lumber Co., and Link's, the only team which defeated B.J.C. Unfortunately in the inter-collegiate games our team was less successful, being defeated by the College of Idaho, Northwest Nazarene College, Lewiston Normal, and Ricks. Team prospects appear favorable, because all but two of this year's lettermen will return. Steve Canning was Captain, and Bob Smidt was manager.

YELL LEADERS B.J.C.'s yell leaders chosen by the Executive Board were Helen Marr
Archibald and Gene Frazier. Through the efforts of these two active
freshmen the B. J. C. rooters evidenced more than their usual enthusiasm
at all rallies and games.
TENNIS The tennis team was chosen this year through a tournament competition
among interested members of the men's physical education classes. At
the time this book went to press the competition was as yet uncompleted.
Inter-collegiate games were scheduled to start the last of May. A tennis
club was initiated this year to create interest in the sport.
