Dear Parents,
As many of our community members have heard, Stagg High School has embarked on a journey to define our amazing community through the stories of the individuals who help define our schoolcommunity. Through our Senior English “Voice of Witness” classroom, taught by Lisa Thyer andChris Wendelin, 60 Stagg seniors have taken the year to collect stories, through interviews, about avariety of people connected with our school. The goal is to better understand the great diversity ofour community and learn to connect with each other through the power of the written word. Thisyear long project culminates in the publication of a book which compiles many of these stories. This program has been met with such enthusiasm that a documentary is being completed by theUniversity of Illinois which follows these students, the class, and our school. We are excited toannounce that the book is near completion and the publisher will be ready to deliver these books in early May! Now is your chance to pre-order your copy! Visit StaggVOW.com to order your copynow! Here is an embedded direct link if you are viewing this newsletter electronically.http://www.staggvow.com/buy-our-book
Academic SupportAs we have made it through the first half of second semester, I wanted to take a moment to highlight the wide variety of opportunities our students have to receive academic assistance at Stagg High School. If students are struggling and have not yet utilized these interventions, now isthe time to act!
Period 2All teachers are available during Period 2 Intervention Days, which occur 2-3 times per week. This is a time for students to receive direct support from their classroom teacher in the form ofexam prep, skill remediation, or general homework help.
Academic LabsStagg High School offers a number of academic support labs during lunch periods. These labsinclude the Math Lab, Science Lab, and Literacy Lab. Students can receive help in any courseby both teachers and student tutors.
Media Center and Computer LabsOur Media Center and Media Center Computer Labs are available for students after school forstudents completing research, generating papers, or those students who need a quiet place tostudy. Students who attend the media center after school can utilize transportation via one ofour activity buses.
Have a great March and GO CHARGERS!

Attention Parents/Guardians
of the Class of 2017!
All children entering 12th grade in the State
of Illinois are required to show proof of
having received one dose of Meningococcal
(Meningitis) conjugate vaccine on or after
their 16th birthday or two doses of the
vaccine at least 8 weeks apart. If your child
received a dose of meningococcal conjugate
vaccine before the 16th birthday, he/she will
need a second dose. The following action is
needed from you at this time:
Proof of one of the following:
A dose of Meningococcal vaccine was
given on or after your child’s 16th
birthday (only one dose is needed)
— OR —
Your child received two doses of the
meningitis vaccine at least 8 weeks apart.
Proof of having received the Meningococcal
vaccine is required and must be submitted to
the School Nurse as soon as the vaccine is
given. We ask that completed forms be
turned in no later than April 13, 2016.
It is important to note that your child will not
be able to receive a schedule, begin the
school year on the first day of class,
participate in Athletics or apply for a parking
spot on campus until proof of having this
vaccine is received in the Nurse’s Office.
If you have any questions, please feel free to
contact the Nurse’s Office at (708) 974-7426.
Attention Incoming
Freshman - Class of 2020
It’s never too early to start thinking about the
required school physical and immunizations
for high school. Call your doctor to schedule
your appointment early to avoid delays in
schedule pick up in August.
Forms can be located on the Stagg
Nurse’s Page on the school website:
http://stagg.d230.org/resources/nurses-
office/
A packet with information and required
forms were handed out to students at
Freshman Registration on Saturday,
January 30, 2016. Any student who did not
attend Freshman registration will have the
forms mailed to their home. Completed
forms are due in the Nurse’s Office by
May 1, 2016.
It is important to note that your child will not
be able to receive a schedule, begin the
school year on the first day of class or
participate in Athletics until a complete
physical and immunization record is
received in the Nurse’s Office.
A Few Reminders
There are times when students are sick
during the school day and are in contact
with their parents via cell phone making
arrangements to go home. The problem
arises when the Nurse’s Office is not aware
that arrangements are in place between the
parent and student for them to go home.
The school policy states “a student who
becomes ill during the school day should
report to the Nurse’s Office”. If your child
texts you or calls you, please make sure that
they report to the Nurse’s Office
immediately. The Nurse can evaluate them
and expedite their release to you when you
arrive. Our primary concern is the health
and safety of our students here at Stagg
High School. When a parent arrives at the
school and the child is not in the Nurse’s
Office and the Nurse is not aware that the
child is ill, there will be a delay before your
child is released to you.
Parents, or their designee, need to come
inside the North (N1) Door and check in with
the front desk. At that time, students will be
sent up to the North Door from the Nurse’s
Office.

2016 Graduation CeremonyThe graduation ceremony for the Class of 2016 will
be held at Stagg High School on Monday, May 16 at
7 p.m. The ceremony will be held outdoors on the
stadium (football) field.
At the graduation rehearsal on May 16, six tickets and
one parking pass will be issued to each graduate.
Please note, no extra tickets are available.
In the event of inclement weather, a raindate has
been scheduled for Friday, May 20, 2016. In the
event that inclement weather requires the ceremony
to be held on the rain date, an all-call (phone call) will
be made by the principal on graduation day (May 16)
by 1:00 p.m. If there is inclement weather on the rain
date, the ceremony will be held indoors.
A mailing will be sent home to graduating seniors mid-
March. The mailing will include details for end-of-the-
year events for seniors and graduation ceremony
details such as rehearsal and parking.

in the Regional competition for DECA, a club that helps prepare students as leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in many business areas.
The competition has a wide variety of business contests ranging from Accounting Applications to Marketing Management to Sports and
Entertainment. Moraine Valley Community College hosted the event with over 15 different schools and over 450 students participating.
This year, twelve students from Stagg finished in the top three in their event and qualified for the state competition. The state competition is
held in Rosemont, IL on March 10-12. If any student places here, they are eligible to compete at Nationals, which this year are being held in

Dates for Upcoming Testing: College Entrance Exams: In School TestsTesting Information
Chargers, there are several testing opportunities occurring over the next few months!
Below is information about the ACT and SAT as well as some important testing-related
considerations for students and families. In school testing dates and bus schedules will
be mailed home.
AP TestingAttention parents and students, registration is
now open for the 2016 AP exams. These exams
will be given May 4th through May 15th; howev-
er, you must register and pay prior to Monday,
March 7, 2016.
Online Exam registration is NOW OPEN!
● In order to register, students should
click on the link provided on the
school Guidance website or visit
www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/143357 to
register. To complete registration, students
must answer all of the required questions.
Registration is not complete until payment is
made and students have printed the PDF of
the confirmation page that is provided at the
end. We know that parents may desire to
register their students for exams. We strongly
recommend that parents and students are
both present while registering to ensure that
the correct exams are ordered.
● This year the cost for each AP exam is $93.
Students who qualify for Free Lunch can
indicate this on the online registration site.
● Test registration is cancelled if the payment
is not made by the deadline.
● The deadline is Monday, March 7, 2016 at
9:00 p.m. Registration will end.
● Registrations that have not been paid for will
be cancelled and exams will not be ordered.
Financial Aid InformationThis is a reminder to college bound seniors and
any juniors looking to graduate early to apply
for financial aid now. You must complete and
submit a Free Application for Federal Student
Aid, commonly referred to as the FAFSA form, to
apply for federal student aid for college and for
most state and institutional aid. The quickest
way to apply is online using FAFSA on the Web
at: www.fafsa.ed.gov
Additionally, we will continue to offer Financial
Aid Fridays to all students and parents seeking
additional financial aid information. Each Friday,
representatives from ISAC (Illinois Student
Assistance Commission), will be available during
the lunch periods to speak with students and/or
parents in our College/Career room. These
advisors are recent college graduates who can
share with students at their level. ISAC’s goal
is to assist in making college accessible and
affordable for all Illinois students. We encourage
any students and parents who have questions
on how they will be able to afford college to take
advantage of these opportunities! As always,
additional information regarding college and
financial aid can be accessed on our guidance
web page. Any questions regarding Financial
Aid Fridays can be directed to Mrs. Samec,
Stagg counselor at (708) 974-7445.
ACT
National administrations of the ACT are
offered on several Saturdays throughout
each school year. Upcoming dates
include the April 9th and June 11th tests.
Students can register for these tests at
www.actstudent.org and should sign up at
least five weeks prior to the test date to
avoid late fees.
SAT
Upcoming test dates for the SAT are
March 5 and May 7. SAT testing does
not take place at Stagg. Students
can register for these tests at
www.collegeboard.com.
Important Testing Considerations
● Test results for juniors will be applicable toward college admission and the ACT
scores will appear on their transcripts, as will all ACT scores students report to
Stagg. As part of registering for the ACT, students should enter Stagg’s testing
code (143357) so their scores are reported here and appear on their transcript.
Test results for freshmen and sophomores will be used to assist students and
parents in academic and career planning.
● Juniors taking the ACT should be aware that each time they take this exam, they
will be given the opportunity to report their scores for free directly to colleges they
are interested in. Reporting ACT scores can save money and time in the college
admissions process, many colleges are requiring scores to be sent from the ACT
testing company and ACT charges students for each score sent at a later time.
● What’s the difference between the ACT and the SAT? The ACT is taken by students
throughout the Midwest and is accepted at colleges across the country. Juniors
should take this test during the spring and seniors should utilize the early fall test
dates to improve their scores, if necessary. Students considering Ivy League
schools or schools on the east or west coasts can also consider taking the SAT.
Scholarship ListingsLocal scholarship applications are avail-
able for seniors online on the Guidance
Department web Page. Interested students
should complete the application and
return it to the Guidance Office by 3:00
p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2016. Upon
completion of the application, seniors will
be eligible for scholarship opportunities
donated by local organizations, businesses,
or individuals. Many other local scholar-
ships have their own applications which
can also be found on the Guidance
Department Web Page at
http://stagg.d230.org/financial-aidscholar-
ships/
Scholarship updates are posted on the
Stagg Scholarship Website. Go to the
Stagg home page and click on Guidance
Department. Then click Financial Aid and
Scholarships. Be sure to check on a
weekly basis for opportunities.
Moraine Offers Scholar AwardSeniors who are in the top10% of the
class after the 7th semester are eligible
for the Moraine Valley Distinguished
Scholar Award. This scholarship is good
for free tuition to Moraine Valley. Any
interested students can download the
application from the Stagg Guidance
website. Application deadline is early
April 2016.
Students’ Belongings
The Deans’ Office would like to remind students
and parents that it is a student’s responsibility
to properly secure their phones and other
belongings while on buses and on campus at all
times of the day. Parents are encouraged to
activate any available tracking devices in an effort
to assist in the recovery of any missing phones.
All missing items should be reported immediately
to the Deans’ Office. Any item that a student
finds should be turned into the Deans’ Office
immediately so that we can assist in finding its
owner.
Parking
Junior students who wish to park during their
senior year should pay close attention to
announcements about upcoming parking
meetings. All Service Learning and senior
vaccination requirements will need to be fulfilled
to park on campus next year. Please refer to the
Parent-Student Handbook for more information
about on campus parking requirements.
Practice on Time Behavior
The Deans’ Office frequently monitors discipline
data frequently to assist us in decision making
and determining appropriate interventions for
students. Each time data is examined, we see
that student tardy violations are our leading cause
for a discipline referral. In addition to the time the
student loses in instruction for being late to school
or to a class, the late arrival causes a disruption to
the instructor and other students. Please work
with your child to develop good punctuality habits.
If he or she is struggling with on time behavior,
please work with a member of your team to assist
in strategies to prevent him or her from being late.
Student ID Cards
A reminder that each student must be in
possession of his or her ID card at all times at
school. If your child has lost his or her ID card,
a new one may be purchased for $2.00 at the
Deans’ Office. If your child forgot his or her ID
card, he or she may obtain a temporary ID card
that is valid for one day at the Deans’ Office.

National Honor SocietyNational Honor Society is a group that rewards students for scholarship, service, lead-
ership, and character. Students are invited to join junior and senior year if they have
met the following requirements.
1. GPA of 3.8 or above
2. Two clubs or activities or combination of the two each year
3. Completion of 24 service hours for juniors and 44 for seniors
Students must have completed their service hours by the end of sophomore year. This
means that their service hours must be turned in to the Service Learning Office by the
last day of sophomore year. The same rules apply for juniors who want to join senior
year - they must have 44 hours of community service turned in to the Service Learning
Office by the last day of junior year.
Once a student has been inducted into NHS they are expected to complete another 20
hours of service both junior and senior years. In order to be recognized at graduation
seniors will need to have service hours turned in by March 1st of their graduation year.
Students will also be expected to maintain their GPA, participation in sports and activi-
ties, and remain free of academic integrity and honor code violations.
The Stagg Preschool is sponsored
by the Family and Consumer Science
Department and is part of the curriculum

Dates for Upcoming Testing: College Entrance Exams: In School TestsTesting Information
Chargers, there are several testing opportunities occurring over the next few months!
Below is information about the ACT and SAT as well as some important testing-related
considerations for students and families. In school testing dates and bus schedules will
be mailed home.
AP TestingAttention parents and students, registration is
now open for the 2016 AP exams. These exams
will be given May 4th through May 15th; howev-
er, you must register and pay prior to Monday,
March 7, 2016.
Online Exam registration is NOW OPEN!
● In order to register, students should
click on the link provided on the
school Guidance website or visit
www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/143357 to
register. To complete registration, students
must answer all of the required questions.
Registration is not complete until payment is
made and students have printed the PDF of
the confirmation page that is provided at the
end. We know that parents may desire to
register their students for exams. We strongly
recommend that parents and students are
both present while registering to ensure that
the correct exams are ordered.
● This year the cost for each AP exam is $93.
Students who qualify for Free Lunch can
indicate this on the online registration site.
● Test registration is cancelled if the payment
is not made by the deadline.
● The deadline is Monday, March 7, 2016 at
9:00 p.m. Registration will end.
● Registrations that have not been paid for will
be cancelled and exams will not be ordered.
Financial Aid InformationThis is a reminder to college bound seniors and
any juniors looking to graduate early to apply
for financial aid now. You must complete and
submit a Free Application for Federal Student
Aid, commonly referred to as the FAFSA form, to
apply for federal student aid for college and for
most state and institutional aid. The quickest
way to apply is online using FAFSA on the Web
at: www.fafsa.ed.gov
Additionally, we will continue to offer Financial
Aid Fridays to all students and parents seeking
additional financial aid information. Each Friday,
representatives from ISAC (Illinois Student
Assistance Commission), will be available during
the lunch periods to speak with students and/or
parents in our College/Career room. These
advisors are recent college graduates who can
share with students at their level. ISAC’s goal
is to assist in making college accessible and
affordable for all Illinois students. We encourage
any students and parents who have questions
on how they will be able to afford college to take
advantage of these opportunities! As always,
additional information regarding college and
financial aid can be accessed on our guidance
web page. Any questions regarding Financial
Aid Fridays can be directed to Mrs. Samec,
Stagg counselor at (708) 974-7445.
ACT
National administrations of the ACT are
offered on several Saturdays throughout
each school year. Upcoming dates
include the April 9th and June 11th tests.
Students can register for these tests at
www.actstudent.org and should sign up at
least five weeks prior to the test date to
avoid late fees.
SAT
Upcoming test dates for the SAT are
March 5 and May 7. SAT testing does
not take place at Stagg. Students
can register for these tests at
www.collegeboard.com.
Important Testing Considerations
● Test results for juniors will be applicable toward college admission and the ACT
scores will appear on their transcripts, as will all ACT scores students report to
Stagg. As part of registering for the ACT, students should enter Stagg’s testing
code (143357) so their scores are reported here and appear on their transcript.
Test results for freshmen and sophomores will be used to assist students and
parents in academic and career planning.
● Juniors taking the ACT should be aware that each time they take this exam, they
will be given the opportunity to report their scores for free directly to colleges they
are interested in. Reporting ACT scores can save money and time in the college
admissions process, many colleges are requiring scores to be sent from the ACT
testing company and ACT charges students for each score sent at a later time.
● What’s the difference between the ACT and the SAT? The ACT is taken by students
throughout the Midwest and is accepted at colleges across the country. Juniors
should take this test during the spring and seniors should utilize the early fall test
dates to improve their scores, if necessary. Students considering Ivy League
schools or schools on the east or west coasts can also consider taking the SAT.
Scholarship ListingsLocal scholarship applications are avail-
able for seniors online on the Guidance
Department web Page. Interested students
should complete the application and
return it to the Guidance Office by 3:00
p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2016. Upon
completion of the application, seniors will
be eligible for scholarship opportunities
donated by local organizations, businesses,
or individuals. Many other local scholar-
ships have their own applications which
can also be found on the Guidance
Department Web Page at
http://stagg.d230.org/financial-aidscholar-
ships/
Scholarship updates are posted on the
Stagg Scholarship Website. Go to the
Stagg home page and click on Guidance
Department. Then click Financial Aid and
Scholarships. Be sure to check on a
weekly basis for opportunities.
Moraine Offers Scholar AwardSeniors who are in the top10% of the
class after the 7th semester are eligible
for the Moraine Valley Distinguished
Scholar Award. This scholarship is good
for free tuition to Moraine Valley. Any
interested students can download the
application from the Stagg Guidance
website. Application deadline is early
April 2016.
Students’ Belongings
The Deans’ Office would like to remind students
and parents that it is a student’s responsibility
to properly secure their phones and other
belongings while on buses and on campus at all
times of the day. Parents are encouraged to
activate any available tracking devices in an effort
to assist in the recovery of any missing phones.
All missing items should be reported immediately
to the Deans’ Office. Any item that a student
finds should be turned into the Deans’ Office
immediately so that we can assist in finding its
owner.
Parking
Junior students who wish to park during their
senior year should pay close attention to
announcements about upcoming parking
meetings. All Service Learning and senior
vaccination requirements will need to be fulfilled
to park on campus next year. Please refer to the
Parent-Student Handbook for more information
about on campus parking requirements.
Practice on Time Behavior
The Deans’ Office frequently monitors discipline
data frequently to assist us in decision making
and determining appropriate interventions for
students. Each time data is examined, we see
that student tardy violations are our leading cause
for a discipline referral. In addition to the time the
student loses in instruction for being late to school
or to a class, the late arrival causes a disruption to
the instructor and other students. Please work
with your child to develop good punctuality habits.
If he or she is struggling with on time behavior,
please work with a member of your team to assist
in strategies to prevent him or her from being late.
Student ID Cards
A reminder that each student must be in
possession of his or her ID card at all times at
school. If your child has lost his or her ID card,
a new one may be purchased for $2.00 at the
Deans’ Office. If your child forgot his or her ID
card, he or she may obtain a temporary ID card
that is valid for one day at the Deans’ Office.

National Honor SocietyNational Honor Society is a group that rewards students for scholarship, service, lead-
ership, and character. Students are invited to join junior and senior year if they have
met the following requirements.
1. GPA of 3.8 or above
2. Two clubs or activities or combination of the two each year
3. Completion of 24 service hours for juniors and 44 for seniors
Students must have completed their service hours by the end of sophomore year. This
means that their service hours must be turned in to the Service Learning Office by the
last day of sophomore year. The same rules apply for juniors who want to join senior
year - they must have 44 hours of community service turned in to the Service Learning
Office by the last day of junior year.
Once a student has been inducted into NHS they are expected to complete another 20
hours of service both junior and senior years. In order to be recognized at graduation
seniors will need to have service hours turned in by March 1st of their graduation year.
Students will also be expected to maintain their GPA, participation in sports and activi-
ties, and remain free of academic integrity and honor code violations.

Attention Parents/Guardians
of the Class of 2017!
All children entering 12th grade in the State
of Illinois are required to show proof of
having received one dose of Meningococcal
(Meningitis) conjugate vaccine on or after
their 16th birthday or two doses of the
vaccine at least 8 weeks apart. If your child
received a dose of meningococcal conjugate
vaccine before the 16th birthday, he/she will
need a second dose. The following action is
needed from you at this time:
Proof of one of the following:
A dose of Meningococcal vaccine was
given on or after your child’s 16th
birthday (only one dose is needed)
— OR —
Your child received two doses of the
meningitis vaccine at least 8 weeks apart.
Proof of having received the Meningococcal
vaccine is required and must be submitted to
the School Nurse as soon as the vaccine is
given. We ask that completed forms be
turned in no later than April 13, 2016.
It is important to note that your child will not
be able to receive a schedule, begin the
school year on the first day of class,
participate in Athletics or apply for a parking
spot on campus until proof of having this
vaccine is received in the Nurse’s Office.
If you have any questions, please feel free to
contact the Nurse’s Office at (708) 974-7426.
Attention Incoming
Freshman - Class of 2020
It’s never too early to start thinking about the
required school physical and immunizations
for high school. Call your doctor to schedule
your appointment early to avoid delays in
schedule pick up in August.
Forms can be located on the Stagg
Nurse’s Page on the school website:
http://stagg.d230.org/resources/nurses-
office/
A packet with information and required
forms were handed out to students at
Freshman Registration on Saturday,
January 30, 2016. Any student who did not
attend Freshman registration will have the
forms mailed to their home. Completed
forms are due in the Nurse’s Office by
May 1, 2016.
It is important to note that your child will not
be able to receive a schedule, begin the
school year on the first day of class or
participate in Athletics until a complete
physical and immunization record is
received in the Nurse’s Office.
A Few Reminders
There are times when students are sick
during the school day and are in contact
with their parents via cell phone making
arrangements to go home. The problem
arises when the Nurse’s Office is not aware
that arrangements are in place between the
parent and student for them to go home.
The school policy states “a student who
becomes ill during the school day should
report to the Nurse’s Office”. If your child
texts you or calls you, please make sure that
they report to the Nurse’s Office
immediately. The Nurse can evaluate them
and expedite their release to you when you
arrive. Our primary concern is the health
and safety of our students here at Stagg
High School. When a parent arrives at the
school and the child is not in the Nurse’s
Office and the Nurse is not aware that the
child is ill, there will be a delay before your
child is released to you.
Parents, or their designee, need to come
inside the North (N1) Door and check in with
the front desk. At that time, students will be
sent up to the North Door from the Nurse’s
Office.
