Invitation to Saint-Petersburg 2022
Dear colleagues, dear friends!
I am happy to welcome the future participants of conference Saint-Petersburg 2022 Geosciences: Time for Change, Time for Chance. The name, in may opinion, has been chosen quite properly, since changes are a basis of new stability, and it is crucial for any business to recognize its perspectives in the time of turbulence. And this is breakthrough science, business-related education and knowledge share that help us move in the right direction.
In 2020, the world changed drastically, and the oil industry had to adapt to the change. Today, predicting the way global geology will develop has no merit. However, I am positive that all of us have such secure foundation for success as technological development, increasing solution quality and decision-making speed. The pandemic year has given us an opportunity to check the efficiency of our market ties and many of them have proved to be a breakthrough. At the conference, I will be glad to discuss with you the ways to scale up this experience to facilitate the further development of the industry.
Friends! Looking forward to meeting you in person in Saint-Petersburg at the time of white nights and the year of anniversary EAGE conference!

Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the International Organizing Committee and European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers, I cordially invite you to take part in the 10th Anniversary EAGE Conference in Saint-Petersburg.
The first event of this kind took place in 2003 as a joint EAGE/EAGO/SEG conference and exhibition. Since that time many things have changed: Russian engineers have learned how to perform 3D high-density wide-azimuth seismic surveys and how to process and interpret their results. Seismologists and geologists are steering the drilling of horizontal wells and microseismic is being used for the assessment of fracking results. A large spectrum of new studies is being performed using core and wellbore data. We are developing complex 3D geological and hydrodynamic models. We are learning and introducing new technologies into our daily practice.
We have survived the oil prices plummeting from $143 to $25 and been working under the harshest decline in oil output imposed by the OPEK+ agreement, and, quite recently, experts have announced a new possible supercycle of high oil prices.
We have been living in the age of change: digitalization, transformation and data lakes. While we have been trying to grasp what they possibly mean, new trends have arrived: decarbonization, green and blue hydrogen, energy companies.
What ways will Russian VIOCs take? What will await our industry tomorrow? What is the status of our petroleum reserves? Will there be new discoveries in the upcoming 30 years? How to attract today’s youth into the industry? What way will geosciences develop? Will cloud technologies become a routine approach to seismic data processing? What will IT giants be able to offer to the Russian petroleum industry?
These and many other more traditional questions related to HC prospecting, new algorithms and approaches in data processing and interpretation, reserves estimation, geological risks, drilling planning and reservoir development will be discussed during the scientific, debate and round-table sessions from the 11th to 14th of April 2022 at the 10th Anniversary EAGE Conference in Saint-Petersburg «Saint Petersburg-2022: Geosciences — Time for Change, Time for Chance».
The World Will Never Be The Same is the most popular phrase of 2020-2021, and, yes, it is so true.
But that does not mean we won’t be able to experience the happiness of meeting our colleagues, friends and like-minded fellows that has always been a part of the EAGE events in Saint-Petersburg!
Looking forward to meeting you there! Tatiana Kiryanova, Chairman, International Steering CommitteeHead of Seismic Research Department, LUKOIL-Engineering

About Saint Petersburg
Saint Petersburg is a modern metropolis in the classic style of Peter the Great, the famous Russian czar who started the modernization of Russia about 300 years ago. Saint Petersburg is one of the most actively developing regions in Russia. Located on the shore of the Baltic Sea, Saint Petersburg is contiguous with countries of the European Union. The city offers plenty of hotels, a beautiful and efficient metro system and a modern airport with good connections to the city center. Saint Petersburg is less than a three-hour flight from most European capitals. With its large geoscience community, excellent facilities and beautiful architecture, Saint Petersburg has become a recognized city for holding large-scale international events. The city is renowned for its hospitality, outstanding research institutes and universities.
Technical Programme
The Programme of the conference will include oral and poster sessions covering virtually all significant areas of geosciences. The round tables and discussions will be organized during the event. Presentations will be made in both English and Russian with simultaneous translation.
Short CoursesWithin the frames of the conference there will be several short courses on pressing problems of modern geosciences.
